The one fundamental mistake all the claimers make is that to be performing an act that is “supernatural” or based around “faith”, the act is not measurable by empirical means.
Any attempt to prove unscientific phenomena via scientific methodology is impossible.
God, for instance, can mean more than a literal “bearded man” entity – it can be based in a different language game from the empirical one.
Randi’s genius in the $1Million Challenge is that it is impossible to win the prize due to the simple application of the word “scientific”.
