Graduate shows are always interesting to watch. There is a sense of raw energy and adventure. Each collection is individual and its evident how much work, passion and personality has been put in by each student.

This year the Swedish school of Textiles showcased thirteen of their graduate designers. From jackets made of plaster of Paris to dresses made from blankets it was an exiting show!

It was clear each student had been push to explore outside the box in terms of fabric, design and presentation and it turned out to be one of the most creative degree shows I have seen in while.

My picks from the show were Trend Stereotype Trend Stereotype Trend by Daniel Bendzovski. Half the models walked down the catwalk in paper clothes bags with the designs printed onto them, something I’ve never seen before!

Under Construction by Sofia Bahlner got applause from members of the audience with her jumpsuit of googly eyes, dress made of balls that rattled and huge spiked coat.

The i.dress collection from Ina Hjelte was another favourite. Completely wearable sophisticated and modern she showcased elegant designs with a twist. Legs of trousers were cut away to pants and halves of skirts cut away to create wholly new shapes and garments

The show also featured some amazing futurist fabrics by Maria Hedmark and the prints in Sara Lundberg’s FRAMING FOREST collection were beautiful, womanly while still being young and fresh.

As a designer myself was inspired by all the designers showing , each had there own strong style and unique approach.

So if there is anything to take away from this article it is this: Don’t neglect to go to graduate shows! You never know what young exiting new talent you might find!
