If you think that Champagne is a little extravagant and Prosecco a little passe, then perhaps it is time to try Van Hunks Cap Classique Brut Sparkling Wine. Cap Classique is the traditional way of making sparkling wine in South Africa and is becoming ever more popular in the UK.
With Christmas fast approaching this would be an ideal in a Christmas morning Mimosa, but is easily good enough for the traditional Christmas toast, or in any cocktail demanding Champagne. In the summer I would happily bring this to a special picnic. Bold, gold, smooth and dry, Van Hunks Brut Cap Classique is easy drinking, with perfect tiny bubbles which provides that silky mouth feel.
Van Hunks Cap Classique Sparkling Wines are produced at Villiera Wines in the Western Cape, where 12th generation winemaker and Van Hunks co-founder, Matthew Krone finishes the product to his high standards.
Van Hunks Cap Classique is produced using a traditional method identical to Méthode Champenoise. It is bottle fermented in small batches and matured in contact with the lees for approximately 30 months.
Showcasing the best of South African sparkling wine, this Cap Classique is a blend of red and white grapes 30% Pinot Noir, 70% Chardonnay displaying the full, balanced yeasty complexity synonymous with a wine made in this style. The wine retains its fresh zestiness that is a result of crisp acidity and delicate fruit.
Villiera Wines don’t use pesticides. Instead, the vineyard pests are kept under control by over 1,000 runner ducks living on the vineyard.
