NAF Off Citronella Wristband Review

I am a big fan of NAF products (http://www.naf-equine.eu/uk/). Both my horses are fed daily scoopfuls of NAF Pink Powder (One of my horses is 27 years old and is on NAF Pink Powder Senior – the brand have two versions of this feed balancer to suit horses and ponies of all ages) and I have noticed a great improvement in their condition. Zara, my Irish Sports Horse, has gone from being a gangly 5 year old to a powerful looking event horse in training.

So, when I came across the NAF range of fly repellent products in my local country store in Pitscottie, Fife, and spotted this fluorescent yellow wristband with the catchy words ‘NAF OFF’ written on it, I could not resist buying two to try – especially since they were under £3 each.

The wristband is made from silicone and has a central compartment that is filled with citronella oil. There are five tiny holes in this central compartment and the idea is that you puncture as many holes as you want to give you the level of fragrance that you need. The more holes you puncture, the stronger the scent – and, of course, the shorter the shelf life. But NAF maintains that the scent will last between 4-6 weeks.

My mum and I tried out these wristbands for the first time two weeks ago. We decided to puncture only one hole to begin with, to see how we got on. It was a beautifully sunny and warm day at the horses, so we spent all afternoon there, grooming, working them in hand and shampooing them.

The citronella scent seemed very strong at first, when we punctured the first hole in our kitchen at home. And even after being outside for four hours, and submerging the wristband in water for the majority of this time when bathing the horses, the scent was still as strong out in the open air. My horses were surrounded by flies, but my mum and I were not. We arrived home later that day with not one red, itchy spot on our skin – a welcome relief after a summer of scratching thanks to the Scottish midge.

I have been using the wristband everyday since then and I can honestly say that the scent is still as strong two weeks in – and I am still on the first hole, I have not punctured anymore yet.

The product is surpassing all expectations at the moment and I will write an update once all the holes have been punctured and the scent has all gone. In the meantime, I cannot recommend this product enough. The wristband is a cool colour and idea. It feels like you’re heading to a music festival every time you slide it over your hand. It’s comfortable to wear and more importantly, it works. It’s a brilliant product for the equine enthusiast, but also for anyone that spends time outdoors. I will definitely be packing it on my next trip abroad.

Note: We have put the wristbands back into the resealable bags, that they came in, after every use to help preserve the scent.

What it says on the packaging:

*Citronella oil

* Waterproof

*Indoor and Outdoor use

*Scent last 4-6 weeks

*Adjustable control of level of fragrance

“This silicone NAF Off Citronella Wristband is made with citronella oil. The unique design enables the citronella oil to be contained in a special compartment of the wristband making it highly durable, waterproof and convenient to use. Perfect for both indoor and outdoor activities. The wristband can be worn while riding or around the yard, wear it on the wrist or the ankle.”

Frost went to the Savoy Hotel today to met Professor Stephen Hawking and hear A Brief History of How England can win the World Cup. Our full coverage and a video will be up soon but we can tell you that the professor will be cheering on England, but doesn’t think we should discount Brazil.

Professor Hawking was in good humour, making the audience of journalists and sport stars laugh. Watch this space for more.

The Beginners’ Guide To Supporting England

footballIt seems like just yesterday when ASBOs were being handed out left, right and centre for over-enthusiastic Vuvuzela players, but the FIFA World Cup has come round once again. Even if you’re not that big a fan of football, you simply can’t avoid the hype when it comes to the World Cup, from tacky flag plastered windows to beers and barbecues. It only happens once every four years, so why not drop the cynicism and get involved with these fun ways to enjoy the beautiful game.

Take your bets

There’s nothing like a little competition when it comes to the World Cup, so get your friends involved in a sweepstake and make sure you bag England for the winner. Consider taking bets for the score of each of England’s games – supporting your country could just earn you a few extra pounds. Alternatively, if you want to be a little more clued up about the whole event, download a betting app to keep you in tune with England’s chances.

Think outside the box

Any Tom, Dick or Harry can follow England in the World Cup and keep score of their goals scored – but why not look at the other achievements made by our best men? Who will score a hat trick, which player will score the most goals overall, and can a winger win the golden boot? This is a great way for you to get to know the game a little better – for example, you could brush up on your knowledge of player positions. While a striker should take the golden boot, with comparatively fewer games than national tournaments, it could be down to anybody, so thinking outside the box will definitely make supporting England during the World Cup more exciting.

Get your mates involved

Rather than sitting back and rolling your eyes every time your housemate turns the football on, consider having friends over to support your country and make a game of the event. Get the barbecue going, crack open the beers and turn your eyes to the television – if your mates are more clued up on the beautiful game than you, you could learn a thing or two about the England team. If it’s the blind leading the blind, you could all benefit from getting together in one setting and teaching yourselves some of the golden rules – including the elusive offside rule.

Anti-Gravity Yoga & Ballet Barre Conditioning at London Dance Academy + Always Infinity Competiton

Recently I got up at 7:30am to exercise on a Saturday. Was I having a mad moment? No, I went to an Always Infinity event to do some Anti-gravity yoga and Ballet Barre Conditioning. I also had a pep talk from a life coach who also went through the benefits of Always Infinity. These include: These are the most exciting Always innovation in over 20 years and are set to revolutionise the pad. They use new-to-UK Infinicel:  while regular pads mostly contain fibres, they are made from liquid foam to absorb liquid. Impressively, they can absorb 10x their weight. They also mould to your body. I love them as they stop a period getting in the way of living your life. They are very light and comfortable. I barely feel like I am wearing them and I am very impressed with the new technology. They are like no other sanitary protection I have ever used. Full marks from me.

I also had a chat with Freya Lingerie about sports bras. They have some really beautiful bras.  I also spoke to a nutritionist who said I had a great diet, Yeah! Her only comment was that I might need more calcium.

The Anti-gravity yoga looked like the picture below, except the fabric was a lovely electric blue colour. The London Dance Academy is an excellent venue. Our instructor was amazing and said we would be doing back flips. I did not think I would be able to do this, but I did! I hung upside down and even stretched my legs out, I did a backflip and I even did the ‘chandelier’ which Pink did at the Grammy’s while singing. All respect to that woman. The chandelier is when you hang from your middle and grab your feet behind you, making a chandelier shape. I really loved Anti-Gravity yoga and would like to do it again. It really made me push myself past what I thought I was capable of and my back felt like it had been stretched out.

Anti Gravity

The Ballet Barre Conditioning was just as much fun. Our instructor was fun and super fit. I could really feel the burn and even the warm up felt hardcore.

Ballet Barre Conditioning combines ballet barre conditioning, pilates, weight training , yoga and isometric. It promotes a leaner, stretched-out look for women. It doesn’t shorten your muscles or make us look like men. Some parts of it reminded me of the Tracey Anderson Method. I definitely want to do it again. It completely works out the body and challenges you. I’m a fan.

I will definitely be doing more Anti-Gravity Yoga and Ballet Barre Conditioning.

We are running a competition to win some pads and Sweaty Betty Yoga Top and Gap Capri Yoga Pants. To win the kit in the photo below like Frost on Facebook, follow us on Twitter or subscribe to our YouTube Channel or newsletter. Comment below to say which one you did.

Cycling and The Olympic Effect

It’s hard to believe that it’s been over a whole year since London opened its Olympic curtains to the rest of the world. But just because it’s no longer gracing every one of our TV channels, dominating every piece of radio airtime or appearing in every single shop window, doesn’t mean that the hype is showing any hint of fading. In fact, if anything, it has flourished – thanks to the passion for sport it has reignited with the British public. One of the sports that has done so dramatically is cycling. Thanks to the successes of Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins, Britain now has a serious passion for pedaling – as this great infographic demonstrates:
