SugarSin Opens New Store In Brighton. We Try Out Their Sweets

We can have a sweet tooth at Frost so we jumped at the chance to review some SugarSin Sweets. Their packaging is great and the sweets always look delicious. We tried Sicilian Lemon White Chocolate, Handmade Lollies, Sparkling Rosé Gummies and Fizzy Prosecco Gummies. The chocolate is divine, with the perfect amount of lemon, the handmade lollies are both fun and yummy. The gummies are as unique as they are yummy. The Rosé ones are soft and refreshing. The Prosecco ones are hard with just the right amount of tang. All are highly recommended. Delicious and naughty: what more could you ask for?

SugarSin co-founders and sisters Anna Nilsson and Josefin Deckel have opened SugarSin Brighton on Duke Street, in the stunning historic quarter of the city.

SugarSin opened the doors to its first sweet shop in London’s Covent Garden in 2011. The concept was born from a lifelong passion for all things sweet and tasty. Disappointed, in particular by the Pick‘n’Mix selection available in the UK, Anna and Josefin worked to create a modern Willy Wonka style store, filled with the world’s most fabulous sweets. The sisters travelled the globe tasting countless varieties, on a mission to create the most distinctive and delicious grown-up, gourmet confectionery collection, as beautiful to look at as it is to taste.

Anna, co-founder of SugarSin comments “We love Brighton – the city is as colourful as our sweets! As soon as we arrived it felt like home and the perfect fit for our second SugarSin store. We are so passionate about sweets that we thought it was time to share that passion with a new city. Since 2011 we have made it our mission to bring current, quality sweets and flavours, with inherent style and plenty of temptation to the people of London, but sweets are made for sharing! For those who doesn’t know us, inspired by our Swedish roots, we produce high quality sweets with intense flavours, great textures and natural ingredients. Josefin and I are extremely excited to open the doors to SugarSin Brighton next weekend!”

The beautifully contemporary store on Duke Street will be filled with SugarSin’s own handmade sweets including:

  • Prosecco Gummies
  • Sea Salt Fudge
  • Juicy Strawberry Lollies
  • Cocoa Dusted Chocolate Almonds

A carefully curated Pick’n’Mix featuring hundreds of nostalgic favourites and flavours to surprise, sourced from all over the world will take centre stage.

Mindful of dietary requirements, SugarSin Brighton, like the London store, will stock sweets suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Federated Films: Excellent Wedding Videographer | Weddings

wedding, weddings, wedding venue, london rowing club, wedding planning

It can be very hard to find a good wedding videographer but I certainly managed to get lucky. Federated Films not only made an amazing wedding video, but also managed to get it edited and to my new husband and I in record time. All at a very reasonable price.

On the day they were unobtrusive and friendly. Everyone loved them. Kevin from Federated Films talent was obvious in his shots and focus. Check out the videos on his website for more at Federated Films He really is talented.

We can highly recommend Federated Films. They make amazing wedding videos at a very reasonable price.

This is the testimonial that we gave them after our wedding: “Federated films were an absolute joy to work with. Not only are they friendly but they were also unobtrusive. We looked at a lot of different videographers and Kevins work stood out. We were not disappointed. The finished result was astounding and well edited. We could not have gotten a better videographer. A++++” – Catherine & James

They are based in Brighton but are happy to travel, as they did for our wedding in London. Capturing your wedding day is incredibly important and a video is something that you can watch forever. It is one of the main things to not skimp on.

Evans the Death, Tyrannosaurus Dead, Gum, The Hundredth Anniversary | Music News

Evans the Death, Tyrannosaurus Dead, Gum and The Hundredth Anniversary are all on the release of

GUTS on – a split tape via Reeks Of Effort that will feature Tyrannosaurus Dead, GUM

and The Hundredth Anniversary. The release will also be marked by gigs in Brighton and

Cardiff.

The release is now streaming and available for pre-order at:http://reeksofeffort.bandcamp.com/album/guts-2

Evans the Death are special guest headliners for the gig. They released their self-titled

debut album in April this year to widespread critical acclaim.

Evans the Death make frenetic and infectious punk pop which exudes the kind of unbridled

charisma, intelligence, and runaway energy that promises a singularly exciting future for the

band. Comprising Dan Moss (guitar, vocals), Lan McArdle (bass), Katherine Whitaker (vocals,

keys), Rob Mitson (drums), and Olly Moss (guitar), and named after the undertaker in Dylan

Thomas’s Under Milk Wood, Evans the Death are poised to fulfill their potential as one of the

most refreshing and exhilarating new groups around.

Brighton-based Tyrannosaurus Dead formed late in 2010, and immediately set to work honing

their melodically driven, fuzzed-out sound. Inspired by bands including The Delgados and

“Trailer” era Ash – Billy Lowe (vocals & guitar), Eleanor Rudge (vocals), Martin Edwards

(guitar), Tom Northam (bass) and Rupert Willows (drums) make warm, distortion drizzled pop.

A successful live act, they have played support to the likes of The Primitives, Shrag and Wave

Pictures.

Gum have been making woozy, reverb-drenched shoegaze since September 2011. Formed in

London by Grant J. Healey (vocals & guitar), Jessica Jordan-Wrench (vocals & bass), Dayoung

Styxx Yun (drums) and Chris Leader (vocals & guitars) they have quickly gained notoriety with

a string of favourable reviews and a split 7” out this month via Art Is Hard (hear track from split

here). Noisy-pop that joins the dots between MBV, The Jesus & Mary Chain and Yuck.

The newest of the newcomers, The Hundredth Anniversary are a four piece band based in

Brighton who formed earlier this year. Eleanor Rudge (vocals & guitar), Chris Lowe (vocals &

bass), Andy Taylor (guitar) and Dem Mather (drums) make gloriously soaring lo-fi indie. As if

The Walkmen were fronted by Cat Power and filtered through a soft-haze of radio static.

Reeks Of Effort is a renowned Cardiff/Manchester/Brighton/London based blog, who are now

branching out into gigs and records. Exciting right?

The Great Park – Stitch | Music Review

Let’s clear one thing up – The Great Park is a man not a band. He’s called Stephen Burch and he’s an Englishman living in the musical hotbed of Berlin, the place where David Bowie and Iggy Pop once shared a flat. There’s some great folk music coming out of Berlin right now courtesy of Woodland Recordings but none great than The Great Park.

Despite being British he doesn’t really play a huge amount in The UK. His 150-ish concerts in the last few years have mostly been in Continental Europe although he has been involved with the excellent Brighton-based label Bleeding heart recordings.

‘Stitch’ is a beast of a record at 31 songs long, spanning two discs. The 1st disc is of songs from his last few records and the 2nd is of live recordings from his various journeys. It’s good of Burch to take us on a physical journey through the live record as he takes us on an emotional one with him in his music. It’s an emotional journey that paints a vivid picture of a man with exposed, open wounds. Burch is clearly a man with the lyrically-introspective nature of Tom Williams. Perhaps also cut from the same anti-folk cloth too, although I’d imagine he’d want less of the anti.

The songs on the record are intimate, they’re at times melancholic and difficult to listen to but something about it draws you in so Burch can paint his bleak picture and on repeated listening he reveals new lyrical nuances, a bit like Forrest Gump does. Whoever coined the term “Problem Folk” for him deserves a medal – I can do no better myself. It’s not without hope though. My only hope is he continues to make records for a long time to come. Buy. This. Record. NOW!

‘Stitch’ is out now via Bandcamp
