Makeup Obsession: The Makeup That Lets You Personalise Your Palette

makeupobsession

I went to the launch of Makeup Obsession recently and now I am a huge fan. You buy one of the empty palettes and then you fill it with your own personal eyeshadow, blusher and highlighter. You can buy one that holds six, or one that holds twelve. The refills are only £2 each and can be interchanged and replaced at any time. There is a huge, great collection so you will definitely find the colours and solutions that you want. I rarely buy palettes as some of the colours always go unused, with this, you design your own palette from scratch. It is such a great idea I can’t believe no one has thought of it before. When you buy a new refill it just clips in. So handy and so easy. It also keeps your makeup fresh. Very important as old makeup harbours bacteria, causing spots and even illness.

The most important thing is the makeup of course. Is it any good? Thankfully, yes. It is highly pigmented and long-lasting. Frost loves.

Christmas Beauty Looks

Christmas Beauty Looks 2015

christmasbeautylooks

Christmas Beauty, don’t you love it? When else do you get to be so glam and over-the-top? As long as no-one mistakes you for a Christmas tree, it is all good. However, Christmas can feel like a marathon of endless parties and family get-togethers. Your hair and make up has to look good and last so here are our top tips and ideas from Frost.

Christmas is tiring so work on your skin first. A good base is all you need to stay looking fresh. A primer will help your make up last all day and make sure your skin is looking it’s best. Before you apply your primer use a good cleanser and then exfoliate as it gets rid of dead skin cells and leaves skin smooth and fresh. Using a weekly face mask before a big event will also make sure your skin is in it’s best condition. Making sure you drink enough water and cutting down on caffeine will keep skin looking healthy. Keep a concealer handy to freshen up underneath eyes and cover up any other flaws. Powder is very underrated but not much else sets make up like it. It will stop you looking shiny and keep make up in place.

Now for some Christmas touches.

A glittery nail polish. Not only glam but also very hard-wearing. Should last a week at least.

A beautiful red lipstick or red nail polish. Endlessly glamorous with the added benefit of being a very Christmas colour.

A shimmering eyeshadow. Something that catches the light gives an extra pop of glamour.

For your hair, do an up-do like a fish tail plait or a loose bun. Add a glitzy clip or a hairband and you are good to go!

Urban Decay Electric Palette

Urban Decay have now added the Electric Palette to their collection of famous eye shadow palettes, and I have got my hands on one. I can never fault an Urban Decay palette and having many of them myself they are really great tools to work with. The intense pigments and the variety of colours, those who have invested in Urban Decay palettes will know what I mean. I truly love the electric palette, it is a burst of colour from Gonzo to Freak, a mixture of Chaos and Slowburn and the splash of Savage. These shades are WOW!

After getting the chance to play with the Electric palette and trying different looks by using just the colours in the palette itself as well as getting out my Urban Decay Naked palette as a partner in crime, I have fell in love with the electric palette. The pigment is bright and intense, a real trademark of Urban Decay. I can’t even pick a favourite out the colours, as they are all so different. You may find yourself having to dig your brush in other eye shadow palette to bring out the colour of the shade but with this palette a little dab is all you need for the soft subtle looks as well as the bright daring ones.

What I love most about this palette is how it can complete any look by adding a dash of colour. We’ve all had those moments when we are all done up and just staring at ourselves in the mirror thinking something is missing, my face looks plain and you can’t just figure out why. Just add a touch of Electric.

Electric can be used not only for eye shadow, but can you it for eye lines with its double ended brush, and if your really feeling creative you can create those theatrical looks as you can use these pigments all over your face and body, don’t just limit it to your eyes! You may be worried about the strong pigments staining but they are easily washed off. I really cannot fault Electric!!

Glō Minerals Ocean Eyeshadow Review | Beauty

This week I have been wearing bright blue eyeshadow. So far, so 80’s. The blue eyeshadow I have been wearing is glō minerals Ocean eyeshadow. A beautiful, happy, bright Bluey-green. It is not possible to wear it and not be in a good mood. The eye shadow is very high quality and glides on. Established in 2002, glō minerals use only pure pharmaceutical grade minerals and anti-oxidants chosen by dermatologists. Even more amazingly they provide complete sun protection using titanium and zinc oxide glō minerals are paraben, dye and perfume free. They also have a powerful antioxidant blend of Vitamins A,C,E and green tea extract – this blend provides nutrients that are vital for maintaining the health of your skin while protecting it from further damage.

Did people think it was weird that I was wearing blue eyeshadow to BAFTA, the theatre and even the Raindance Film Festival opening? No, they loved it. I got a brilliant reaction from people and will continue to wear it.

I love this make up brand. Women put hundreds of chemicals on their face everyday, because of this, I believe we should be careful what make up we use, make sure it has no parabans and not too many ingredients. Glo Minerals is an excellent brand that works on two levels: quality in their products and healthiness in their sun protection and lack of nasty chemicals. Mineral make up is huge now and rightly so. We love glō minerals.

We will be reviewing glō minerals siren lipsticks soon too. Watch out for it.

Calvin Klein Intense Mono Eyeshadow Artic Beauty Review

Catherine BalavageWe all know that Calvin Klein makes great clothes and ubiquitous underwear. But what about their make up? I try their eyeshadow to find out.

Calvin Klein’s Tempting Glance Intense Mono Eyeshadow in Artic is a lot lighter than my usual eyeshadow. In fact it looks more like a highlighter. A nice colour, but a highlighter.

I put it on and decide to pair it with some lilac eyeshadow on the crease on my eyelid for definition. The eyeshadow feels great. As expensive and high quality as I expect a product from Calvin Klein to be.

I really like the look and to top it of, when I bump into Krista Madden, owner of excellent blog Beauty And The Dirt and founder of Handpicked Media, at the launch of Superdry and Timothy Everest’s new clothing collaboration she compliments me on my make up. High praise indeed. In fact, I look very bright and fresh. My make up looks like spring. I feel so inspired that I have decided to experiment more with my make up.

The eyeshadow is both matte and shimmery. It blends on easily and you can also build it up. It doesn’t crease or fade. It is long wearing and lasts the day. It is also allergy tested & fragrance free. A Frost thumbs up.

What do you think of the look? Do you like light eyeshadow?

Superdry Beauty Range | Beauty Review

I am a sucker for beautiful packaging and originality, and Superdry’s beauty range has both in spades. Even their lipstick (which they call lip paint) has beautiful details on the actual stick. The make up bags are clear and in bright colours, and the actual packaging just looks amazing. I don’t know who their design team is, but they deserve a medal.

I love their lip fix in peppermint. It really does stop your lips drying out. It is one of my favourite lip balms now, and smells great. Their eye liner is brilliant too. Sorry if I sound like I am fawning, they just really do the job. I love eyeliner so I am fussy about what I use. It has to be really black and have staying power.

Superdry make-up is priced between £2-20, a really good price range, especially considering the quality and design of the products.

Their eyeshadow is very cool too, it flips out sideways. I also recommend their Kabuki Brush. It is so soft I could stroke it all day.

Do you think you will be trying any of Superdry’s beauty products?
