Have Your Moment Of Calm This Christmas With Goldie Hawn And Max Benjamin

Goldie Hawn, Max Benjamin, candle, relax, calm, Christmas is supposed to be a time of fun and relaxation, but for many it can be a massive source of stress and anxiety. Make sure you take some time out of your hectic Christmas schedule to indulge in a moment of calm with the help of this gorgeous candle from Max Benjamin.

The “Calm” candle in collaboration with Goldie Hawn and The Hawn Foundation features a blend of soothing Lavender oils with natural wax and three wicks. The Lavender fragrance was chosen by Goldie and Max Benjamin because Lavender aromatherapy is great for reducing stress and is widely used in aromatherapy treatment for its calming and relaxing properties. In clinical trials Cortisol, a stress hormone produced by the body, was shown to have a great reduction in the measured levels within 5 minutes of the patient smelling real Lavender.

The Hawn Foundation is a charitable organisation that aims to reduce stress and anxiety in children, allowing them to thrive and lead healthier, more resilient lives. It was set up nearly a decade ago by Goldie after she was appalled by the alarming increase in stress, anxiety and depression in young people.

Goldie says… “I created this candle to give something beautiful to people. I chose the name ‘Calm’ because a calm environment means less stress and anxiety. Knowing that scents have powerful effects on the brain, I chose Lavender for the sense of well-being it engenders. Together the name and the scent of this wonderful candle convey our essential message to children and parents alike; that their well-being, their sense of calm and confidence is of the utmost importance!”

Dr. Dulcamara Orange Flower: Victorian Inspired Beauty | Review

We get sent a lot of stuff to review but this Victorian inspired Orange Flower collection from Dr. Dulcamara really caught our eye. It is both original and stunning. It looks so beautiful on the bathroom shelf you almost don’t want to use it. But use it you must. It smells divine and just looking at it creates happiness.

We reviewed the hand cream, which leaves the hands silky soft and smelling great. It is a really good cream, rubs in well and works. The bath essence looks like a magic potion and sitting in the bath just sniffing it is a potential hazard to look out for. It makes bathing even more enjoyable and is good to the skin.

We really loved the Orange Flower collection from Dr. Dulcamara and already have a few people in mind who will be getting these as a Christmas present. Frost loves….

Dr Dulcamare, lotions and potions, beauty, beauty review

Orange flowers are the source of neroli, an essential oil distilled from the freshly picked blossoms of the bitter orange tree. Neroli is named after the Italian city of Neroli, where it was used to ward off a plague in the 17th Century. Today, the oil is mostly produced in the South of France and in Italy.

The rich flower-scented aroma has long been regarded as a symbol of purity and eternal love, and was a great favourite of Marie Antoinette. The oil is also used frequently in Middle Eastern recipes to add fragrance to food, water and tea.

Neroli oil has a reputation for its calming, relaxing properties, and is regarded as a mild sedative.

New research reveals that 82% of newlyweds admit to selling wedding gifts on internet sites like Ebay.

Despite the use of wedding lists and the amount of thought guests put into selecting the perfect present, it seems that most newlyweds still end up with impractical presents that they just don’t want or need.

Couples taking part in the research revealed some very strange gifts indeed, with one receiving a tarantula and another couple who were presented with a gift-wrapped banana.

It also seems that many guests give presents expecting them to be sold on. More than one in ten wedding guests (12%) said they were often embarrassed by their gifts and one in five fully expect their gifts to be left unused, returned or sold.

The research indicates that more practical gifts or even group gifts are the solution, for example contributions to the honeymoon or money for house improvements would be welcomed.

42% of guests admit that they find buying a wedding gift ‘stressful’.

Worries over what gift to purchase have resulted in one in ten Brits declining a wedding invitation altogether, believing that a bad gift decision could cause an argument between friends. 6% even believe it could end a friendship.

The research was done by One4all, a gift card from the Post Office,

Dads Get Short Changed

SBRP2080UV_BreakingBadS5_UK_BD_STD2_ST_2DDads are being short changed when it comes to gifts, new sales figures from retailer Debenhams reveal.

Kids are spending on average £4 less on Father’s day gifts than they were last year, in 2012 the average spend for gifts was £16 and this has now dropped to a measly £12.

However, whilst Dads are still getting a rough deal, the retailer has seen a 7% increase in people buying Father’s day gifts compared to last year but are just being more thrifty.

Mums are still coming out on top; with the average spend for a Mother’s Day gift this year coming in at a generous £21.

Says Disa Blackburn, Head of Gift Buying at Debenhams; “It seems poor Dads are getting a raw deal when it comes to Father’s Day gifts and the gap in spending is only get bigger.”

“After years of Dad duties, such as being a living, breathing cash point and a 24 hour taxi service it’s time we make an effort at making our fathers feel special.”

“Dads are notoriously hard to buy for and our research shows that this is often the reason why they are forgotten – Mum’s on the other hand have a much more diverse range of gift options.”

Debenhams personal shoppers are offering complimentary Father’s day gift consultations and aim to give customers a helping hand when it comes to choosing the perfect present for their Dads.

It seems sons are the biggest culprit for not showing appreciation for their Dads, the survey revealed that men were much more likely to buy a Mother’s day present than they were to buy a Father’s day present, with 27% saying they bought a father’s day present vs. 53% for a Mother’s Day gift.

Women seem to be fairer when treating their parents, 56% buy Father’s Day gifts and 61% of women will buy a Mother’s Day present.

Topping the list of Father’s day gifts this year are:

1. Socks.

2. Slippers.

3. Pyjamas.

4. Aftershave.

5. Leather goods; wallets, belts etc.

Debenhams has also seen geographical trends in Father’s Day gift spending. People in the North of England are three times more likely to buy a Father’s Day gift than the south, and the average gift spend is much higher at £19. Hull has come out on top as having the biggest spenders.

Disa Blackburn continues; “We are predicting we’ll see a splurge of generous Father’s day shoppers this weekend, all Dad’s deserve a treat after all.”

Debenhams men’s gifting is available in all stores nationwide and online at Debenhams.com.
