They are comfy and they look fab. Founded in 2014 and launching its first collection for Spring Summer 2015, the SLYDES brand offers an exciting range of pool slides for the fashion forward. The pool slide,  once reserved for the use of sporty types and swimmers alone,   is now the ultimate footwear choice of the Summer. I tend to agree. Minimum fuss with maximum stylish. That is what we all need.

One Of The Summer’s Essentials… Cartier Parfums unveils Must de Cartier Gold

Cartier Parfums has announced the launch of its Must de Cartier Gold fragrance.

Inspired by the brand’s debut Must de Cartier ever green oriental essence, the brand’s in-house perfumer Mathilde Laurent worked with Givaudan, the fragrance company that created the original, to create a new scent with a variation on jasmine, brightened with a burst of osmanthus.

The fragrance will be available nationwide from 31 August, priced at £75 (50ml) and £105 (100ml).

Michael Kors Launches Gold fragrance And Jewellery Collections

Michael Kors has announced the launch of its new Gold fragrance and jewellery collections.

The Gold Fragrance Collection comprises three scents each designed to reflect different guises of the luxury substance including white, rose and 24K.

The White Luminous Gold fragrance is a blend of pear, jasmine and amber; Rose Radiant Gold mixes spices, florals and musks; while 24K Brilliant Gold merges orange mandarin and florals with woody notes.

The Michael Kors Gold Fragrance Collection will launch on August 19 and is priced at £39 (30ml), £58 (50ml) and £79 (100ml).

The Gold Jewelry Collection is crafted from gold-tone, white gold-tone and rose gold-tone stainless steel in sculptural style. In addition to stackable bracelets and bangles, the collection also features chains and rings.

This Is An Ex-Parrot!

GIANT DEAD PARROT INSTALLED ON LONDON’S SOUTH BANK AS MONTY PYTHON RETURN FOR FINAL LIVE SHOWS

The dead parrot at the centre of the eponymous sketch performed by John Cleese and Michael Palin, first screened 45 years ago, has been recreated on a giant scale to celebrate the screening of the very last Monty Python live show on comedy TV channel Gold this Sunday, the 20th July.

The mammoth model of the ‘Norwegian Blue’ was commissioned by the comedy channel following a survey of 2000 comedy fans which named the surreal pet shop skit as the nation’s favourite Monty Python sketch of all time. The famous sketch was first broadcast on 7 December 1969 and remains a firm favourite with audiences who have been enjoying the live shows at The O2 this month.

The sculpture caused a stir amongst London commuters as it was hung upside down by a crane before being respectfully laid to rest on its back at Potters Fields on London’s South bank near Tower Bridge.

The model, which is made from fibre glass, took a team of three sculptors over two months to design, construct and paint.  The giant dead parrot measures 15 metres (almost 50 feet) from the tip of its tail to the top of its head, the equivalent to the height of five elephants standing on top of one another.

Lead sculptor Iain Prendergast says, “We are all Monty Python fans so we were delighted to receive the brief from Gold to recreate the mythical ‘Norwegian Blue’ on a giant scale. We watched both live and televised versions of the sketch and found that there have been a number of different incarnations of the parrot with a variety of different plumages.  Our sculpture provides a colourful hybrid of the dead parrots which have featured in the celebrated sketchThe key challenge for us was capturing the comedy value of the dead parrot, keeping the realism of the bird whilst also adding touches like the bloodshot, ‘stunned’ eyes.” 

The homage to the iconic Monty Python sketch will be taken to The O2 arena where fans attending the final run of live shows will be able to say their final farewell to the comedy troupe, taking pictures of the giant dead parrot and adding to the Twitter buzz using the hashtag #montypythonlive.

 

Gold will be screening the live broadcast of the final Monty Python Live (mostly): One Down Five To Go stage show on Sunday 20th July.

How To Choose Jewellery Colours For Your Skin Tone | Weddings

Identify your skin tone using your wrist. Look at the inside of your wrist to see if your skin tone is cool or warm. Cool skin tones are identifiable by bluish coloured veins, their eye colour is most likely to be blue or brown.

 

Warm skin tones are identifiable by greenish coloured veins., hair colour having a red or auburn, strawberry tones.

 

How do you choose between gold and silver for your skin tone?

There is no steadfast rule on this; you really need to try both against your skin to test. What can make a difference is the finish on your jewellery – polished, satin, textured, oxidised (blackened silver).

 

A yellow gold ring with a polished finish might not suit you, but then the same ring with a satin finish might look amazing. Reds tend to suit autumn and winter tones more than spring and summer tones, but that doesn’t mean that the paler skin tones cannot wear red at all. It’s all down to the tone of red. Try testing a few shades of red against your skin to see if it’s right for you. You will know the moment you put it against your skin; a wrong shade will clash immediately and the right one will look like you were born to wear it.

 

Winter/deep tones

Winters should wear colours that are sharp, stark and clear. Deep blue sapphires, Ruby and Garnets in red and cerise pinks all go well with winter complexions. For lighter colours, wear icy tones rather than pastels e.g. White pearls, opals, diamonds, Emeralds, blue-green tourmalines and turquoise.

 

Summer/cool types look good in pale amethysts and pale blue topaz and should choose pastels and soft neutrals. Pale amethists, rose pink spinels, soft blue tourmalines, and Lemon beryl.

 

Warm tones suit golden undertones.

People with autumn or warm skin tones should select colours with golden undertones, Smokey quartz, amber, fire opal, warm yellow citrine.

 

Spring tones look best in wear warm orange-based colours like Scarlet red Ruby, garnet , fire opal, and coral. Lighter types should choose soft or pastel shades while clear types can wear more contrasting colours.

 

Team GB starlet Jessica Ennis admits ‘I’d love to start my own fashion label

Jessica Ennis has had quite a year, winning gold at the Olympics and becoming an idol for young girls everywhere. Now Jessica is branching out.

Speaking exclusively in City’s AM luxury magazine Bespoke, Olympic starlet Jessica Ennis said:

“I ADORE Victoria Beckham and Alexander McQueen…”

“I’d love to start my own fashion label…”

“I’ve been to two award ceremonies in the last two nights…”

You could be forgiven for thinking these were the words of a Hollywood starlet or seasoned pop star. But this is Jessica Ennis – the poster girl for the 2012 Olympics and contender for BBC Sports Personality of the Year, who, in the mind of the nation, wears lycra as a second skin.

Almost overnight she has become a focal point for the post-Olympics revival of Cool Britannia, as likely to be spotted in Stella McCartney as the new Adidas collection (which she is modelling the day City’s AM luxury magazine Bespoke caught up with her).

The change must be startling: one moment she’s a promising heptathlete, relatively unknown outside a group of loyal fans committed to the sport, the next, she’s an unexpected fashion darling.

So how is she enjoying the transition from tracksuits – and looking very good in them, mind you – to being dressed by some of the most sought after labels in the world? “It’s a brilliant position to be in,” she says. “It’s nice to have the option to pick and choose – it’s less stressful when you’re deciding what to wear.”

Her reinvention as a poster-girl has also given her design ambitions of her own and she confides that a collection is definitely on the horizon. “I would love to go down that road,” she says, “whether it’s collaborating with [a big sportswear brand] or doing the more fashiony side of things.”

With the amount of work coming her way, plus the prospects of further gold on the horizon, don’t expect Jessica Ennis, national treasure, unlikely fashion queen, to take her foot off the pedal for long.

The Comic Strip Presents ‘Five Go To Rehab’

Three decades after the renowned Five Go Mad in Dorset, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, Peter Richardson and Ade Edmondson return to celebrate 30 years of the series, with The Comic Strip Presents ‘Five Go To Rehab’, which premieres on 7th November on GOLD at 9pm.

The famous children’s characters have been brought back from the past to confront today’s modern world, but this time they must account for their outmoded racist and sexist views. But the quintet seem blissfully unrepentant as they gather for a reunion on Dick’s birthday in leafy Dorset – still a magical land of rolling hills, woods, ruined castles and dodgy villains in big black cars.

Dick (Ade Edmondson) has changed little since those early years and is now Assistant Manager for Plasmold, a plastic guttering company in Dorking. Eager to rekindle the joys of their Famous Five youth, he has engineered a few surprises for their reunion. However the others are not as keen to revisit their past. George (Dawn French) is a struggling alcoholic with a string of ex-husbands behind her and only faithful Timmy by her side. Julian (Peter Richardson) having disappeared to Equatorial Guinea for many years, apparently working for a dubious ‘charity’, is now also in need of a stint in rehab. Anne (Jennifer Saunders) the pretty shy one never did become the ‘perfect housewife’. Now a militant feminist / animal rights campaigner, she lives life on the edge of a nervous breakdown.

The famous five are met along the way by a number of familiar faces. Robbie Coltrane returns as a guest house landlady and lecherous Gypsy. Stephen Mangan plays a sexually charged actor, eager to impress Anne and Nigel Planer returns as a police inspector and sinister barmaid. Rik Mayal plays an evil villain who is determined to decapitate a terrified Julian and Daniel Peacock also makes an appearance as snubbed Toby Thurlow who has had 30 years to plan his revenge on the famous five.

Five Go To Rehab was created by the award winnings writers Peter Richardson and Pete Richens who wrote the original Five Go Mad in Dorset film and have since collaborated on many of the Comic Strip films including The Strike, A Fistful Of Travellers Cheques, Four Men In A Car and more recently the highly acclaimed The Hunt for Tony Blair. Five Go to Rehab was directed by Peter Richardson and produced by Nick Smith who also produced The Hunt for Tony Blair.
