Frost Beauty Special | The Top Products

I have been lucky enough to have a chance to review some excellent beauty products recently. So here is my beauty low-down.

The people from Trilogy showed me how to make a moisturiser with a syringe, hot water and a waxy substance. After you syringe the hot water in the tube with the waxy substance you use the syringe to create air pressure. A lot of pumping later, ta-da, you have a moisturise. Very fun.

Manuka Doctor Skin Repairing Cream. This cream uses a unique purified form of Bee Venom along with UMF 18+ Manuka Honey. I have been using it and my skin is definitely more radiant. Independent survey’s say it makes a difference to your skin in four weeks. Kate Middleton, Victoria Beckham and Danni Minogue are all fans. Made in Chelsea star Mille Mackintosh is their new brand ambassador. Mille had acne in her youth and loves the range as it clears up her skin. They also won ‘Best New Brand’ at the annual beauty awards which are hosted by Cosmetics Executives Women UK.

I love dry shampoo. It is great for volume or those days in-between washes. Klorane’s mini sized Gentle Dry Shampoo Oat Milk is a super handy 50ml can. It’s pretty natural and just pops into your handbag. It’s also only £3.10.

Another travel, and summer, essential is Eau Thermale Spring Water Spray. It’s the same size as the dry shampoo (50ml) and only 5p dearer. It cools and calms the skin. Angelina Jolie is a fan.

Aloe Vera should be in every make-up bag. Celebrity fan Jemma Kidd uses Aloe Vera Gel after being out in the sun to sooth and heal the skin: She says: ‘I religiously put it on when I’ve been in the sun. It’s so soothing and healing. We have hundreds of aloe plants in our garden and when we’re burnt we pick a leaf.’

Miaflora Argan Oil is an excellent moisturiser. It is produced from the kernels of the Argan tree. Kylie Minigue says: “I picked up some argan oil on a recent trip to Morocco…it really does work!” She’s right, it does.

Miaroma Rose Blended Essential Oil is brilliant. You can apply straight to skin or put it in the bath. Rose oil is one of the ingredients of the moment. It does improve skin.

Bio Oil is a classic. Use it for stretch marks and scars. It is a household name now and rightly so.

Another favourite is the Micro Pedi. It is this excellent battery-operated portable device that gives your feet an amazing pedicure. It is available from Boots for £39.95.

Keromask is a new generation of cover-up. You can even use it to cover tattoos and acne. It comes in 24 shades of camouflage cream (£14.99 each) and four finishing powders to achieve the perfect blend. The results are waterproof and heat-resistant. You can buy the Keromask Starter Kit for just £4.99. Go to coverwithconfidence.co.uk for advice on make-up application.

Dehydrated skin can be tight, flaky and sore. If you have lots of very fine lines (as opposed to deep wrinkles), and you’re prone to a dull complexion, then you probably have dehydrated skin. Don’t panic though – this can quickly be brought back to health.

Hydrate skin and achieve that ‘A-list’ complexion with an intensely moisturising honey treatment from Manuka Doctor

Celebrities such as Catherine Zeta Jones and Scarlett Johanssen swear by Manuka Honey facials.

Manuka Honey has the ability to absorb and retain moisture, which supports the natural collagen and elastin structure of skin. With 80% of skin made up of collagen, it’s an ideal natural ingredient to help keep skin hydrated, firm and lifted.

Manuka Doctor’s ApiNourish Rejuvenating Face Mask contains a UMF 18+ Manuka Honey to deeply nourish the skin and help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This deep penetrating skin renewal treatment should be applied to dry clean skin and either left on for 15-30 minutes before washing off or it can be left on overnight for an intensive moisturising treatment. The Rejuvenating Face Mask from Manuka Doctor costs £49.99 and is available from Holland & Barrett stores nationwide or www.hollandandbarrett.com.

I will also be reviewing Viviscal Maximum Strength and Colladeen Visage so watch this space! Around 70,000 women take the Colladeen so I have high hopes.

Brooke Shields, Susan Sarandon and Gillian Anderson Support 'Positive Beauty'

GLOBAL STARS AND THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY LINE UP TO SUPPORT PSYCHOLOGIES’ ‘POSITIVE BEAUTY’ MANIFESTO

Brooke Shields, Susan Sarandon and Gillian Anderson are amongst 50 celebrities who have signed up to support the Psychologies’ ‘Positive Beauty’ Manifesto, which launched on 5th May, 2011.

Beauty editor, Eminé Ali Rushton, said:  “An interest in how you look is so often dismissed as superficial, when in fact it’s been shown that those who take care of their appearance feel far happier. There’s such a powerful link between looking good & feeling good – and we wanted to celebrate this. By promoting such inclusive, positive values – that do not discriminate or prescribe or restrict – we’re truly celebrating beauty that unites us all.”

The manifesto, published in Psychologies’ June issues across the globe, marks the launch of a campaign that will also include the first ‘Positive Beauty’ awards in the UK in October.

The Psychologies’ ‘Positive Beauty’ campaign aims to encourage women to have a balanced approach to beauty and celebrates women who enjoy looking after their appearance, while celebrating individuality in an increasingly pressured world. The campaign taps into the Psychologies ethos of always looking beneath the surface to understand what really makes women tick – ‘Positive Beauty’ is the expression of a women’s sense of self as well as the way she chooses to present herself.

The campaign is being supported by major international beauty brands, including ambassadors from Lancôme, Laura Mercier, Trevor Sorbie, Eve Lom, Ruby Hammer and Margo Marrone from The Organic Pharmacy all signing up to the manifesto.

The 10-point manifesto has also been backed by US stars and leading UK women across entertainment, media and politics including; Jemma Kidd, Mary Portas, Kathy Lette, Miranda Hart, KT Tunstall, Corinne Baily Rae, Lisa B, Camila Batmanghelidjh from the Kids Company and Lynne Featherstone MP.

Louise Chunn, Editor of Psychologies comments: “I am a passionate believer in the aims of this beauty manifesto. Beauty is a wonderful tool for women, but it shouldn’t become their master.”

The ‘Positive Beauty’ Manifesto will run in UK Psychologies and internationally from 5th May in France, Russia, China, Belgium, Mexico, Romania, Spain, Italy and Greece.

As part of the campaign women in the UK are being asked to sign up to the manifesto on Psychologies.co.uk as well as tweet their personal ‘Positive Beauty’ mantras to @PsychologiesMag, to celebrate feeling good about beauty.

The ‘Positive Beauty Awards’, taking place in London in October, will recognise beauty brands that help make women feel as well as look fantastic.

The 10 point Positive Beauty Manifesto:

1. Beauty is the celebration of what is unique about each one of us

2. Taking the time to care about ourselves boosts our self confidence

3. Beauty and femininity are complex, and should not follow a simplistic set of rules or

universal conversations

4. Beauty should celebrate intelligent, individual and confident role models

5. Being bombarded by unattainably perfect beauty ideals can damage that confidence

6. True beauty radiates who we truly are, including all our imperfections

7. Feeling beautiful is more important than looking beautiful

8. A woman can play with her image, make-up and clothes without being superficial

9. Neither neglecting your appearance nor obsessing about it are healthy signs for women

10. We can be beautiful without being young, overtly sexy or thin

Jemma Kidd opens up about her panic attacks.

Model, Business Woman and Make-up Artist Jemma Kidd Speaks Out About Her Crippling Anxiety, Panic Attacks And The Man Who ‘Transformed’ Her Life.

A national magazine today broke the story that Jemma Kidd has kept secret for most of her adult life. The celebrity Make-up Artist and sister of model Jodie Kidd (who also suffered from panic attacks and anxiety) would appear to the public and the majority of people that know her to have led a charmed and carefree life. Today, she revealed that crippling anxiety and panic attacks plagued her throughout her twenties until she and her sister came across Charles Linden and his program for anxiety disorder recovery.

“The attacks are so random and debilitating that you become fearful of the fear that they bring. You start to anticipate them and find yourself doing anything to avoid them. I stopped driving on my own. I manipulated my life so that when I had to go somewhere, I had someone with me. I couldn’t go into the supermarket or anywhere crowded. If I was going to stay at someone’s house for the weekend, I would be anxious for about ten days before and would insist on knowing how close they lived to a hospital. The symptoms were so real that I believed I could have a heart attack at any time,” Jemma states.

Jemma went online and came across the website of Charles Linden, 42, a former TV producer from Kidderminster, Worcestershire, who suffered from chronic anxiety for more than seven years and subsequently developed his own method of treating anxiety, panic attacks, phobias and obsessive compulsive disorder. “I bought his book and CD and read his story, which was 50 times worse than mine, and it made me realise that I could do something to help myself. Within days, I was feeling better,” says Jemma.

Jemma has since met Charles and agreed to work with him at his residential anxiety recovery retreats in Worcestershire. “I have been on one myself and seen how transformational his work is.”

Since curing himself in 1998, Charles and the team at The Linden Centre have helped over 139,000 anxiety sufferers internationally. Of Jemma’s recovery, Charles comments: “Jemma and her sister Jodie are a fantastic example of how the method works to put people back in control of their lives. We are very excited to have Jemma on board encouraging other sufferers to start their recovery asap.

“We at The Linden Centre are so proud to have guided tens of thousands of anxiety sufferers through the program, which shows them how to make changes in their lives to affect the way the mind perceives its environment – which in turn, switches of the anxiety response in humans. It really is very simple.”

On Tuesday 25th January, Charles will be hosting a one-off live webchat at www.charles-linden.com/webcast . Between 7pm and 9pm GMT, Charles is encouraging sufferers and carers to log on and ask him anything in relation to Anxiety Disorders and The Linden Method.

Anyone who would like to find out more can also contact The Linden Method support centre and speak to one of their advisers on 01562 742 004 Monday- Friday 9am – 5pm.

JEMMA KIDD joins 30,000 racegoers flood into Newbury Racecourse for Ladies day.

Joined by celebrity make-up artist Jemma Kidd, the changeable weather didn’t stop the 30,000 strong racegoers flood in for Ladies Day at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday.

The 105 year old racecourse, one of the most popular tracks for the serious racegoer, recently launched a major new initiative called the Inside Track enabling racing newcomers to get a flavour of the joys and thrills of a day at the races. Through a number of expert masterclasses from learning how to place a bet to how to spot a winner, as well as a series of behind the scenes tours, racegoers were shown how to walk the walk and talk the talk in the racing world.

Jemma Kidd said, “It’s fantastic to see that the great British tradition of spending a day at the races is being revived by Newbury Racecourse, I love going to the races as it’s always such a fun day out to spend with friends and family.”
Stephen Higgins, Managing Director of Newbury Racecourse whose brainchild The Inside Track is, said “Ladies Day is one of our largest racedays and with visitor numbers exceeding last year’s this is the perfect platform on which to launch this novice racegoer campaign.”

The Newbury Inside Track campaign includes:
· A Racegoers Guide to Newbury with useful jargon, details on the runners and riders and an insiders knowledge to some of the best places to visit around the course
· On course Masterclasses and Behind the Scenes tours to get to the heart of the racing action.
· Advice from the experts on how to spot a winner
· Tips on what to do if you fancy a flutter but don’t know your pony from your monkey

Thousands of racegoers were treated to a performance from Westlife. The four Irish boys took to the stage for the first time at Newbury Racecourse as the finale of a trilogy of ‘Party in the Paddock’ events, an initiative aimed at appealing to a new generation of racegoers by fusing popular music with racing. Night Owls then gathered for some apres -racing as Newbury Racecourse became a Hawaiian hotspot at the Hula Bar.

JEMMA KIDD FRONTS NEW CAMPAIGN FOR NEWBURY RACECOURSE LADIES DAY SATURDAY 14 AUGUST 2010

Today, Newbury Racecourse announced international celebrity make-up artist Jemma Kidd as ambassador for its annual Ladies Day featuring Party in the Paddock, 14 August 2010.

With ticket sales fuelled by Westlife’s performance after racing, the Racecourse is expecting to break last year’s Ladies Day record of 26,000 racegoers, meaning the 2010 event will result in the largest attendance in the racecourse’s recent history.

Racegoers from Edinburgh to Exeter and Newport to Newcastle are signing up to attend the August Ladies Day celebration, which includes seven top race fixtures, an evening performance from Westlife, ‘New Racegoer Masterclasses’ and a prize for the most stylish dresser in a Fashions in the Field competition – with the winner being crowned the style queen of Ladies Day.

Jemma Kidd says, “I have a lifelong passion for horses and I am calling all ladies to come to Ladies Day and experience the buzz you can only get from being at the races. For first-timers or those who have yet to be bitten by the bug, Newbury Racecourse’s onsite new racegoer sessions will really allow ladies to engage in racing and help them feel how I do about the sport! In return for a great day out I hope to see ladies giving generously in support of a great cause – The Eve Appeal.”

Newbury Racecourse has also pledged its support of The Eve Appeal as the Official Charity of Ladies Day and is aiming to raise thousands of pounds for the cause in donations. In celebration of this partnership and to raise further funds for gynaecological cancers on the day, Newbury Racecourse has launched the “Eve Salad” – a light, crunchy seafood salad, perfect for an afternoon at the races in the mid-August heat.

For the first time ever, Newbury will be offering onsite masterclasses, which will also be broadcast on screens around the racecourse. Whether it’s their 1st or 100th time at the races, these sessions will give ladies the skills to walk the walk and talk the talk on Ladies Day. Tips will include where and when to be seen, how to get close to the horses, how to bet, and learn the racing lingo – impressing even the most knowledgeable racegoer.

Stephen Higgins, joint Managing Director of Newbury Racecourse says “This year we are launching onsite masterclasses as part of our new racegoer campaign and will have experts available during the day to offer handy hints and tips to help ladies to get the most out of their day. Involving Jemma and the Eve Appeal can only complement this drive and confirm our position at the forefront of the campaign to ignite people’s passion for racing.”

Jemma will be joined on the day by Chanelle McCoy wife of Grand National winning Jockey Tony McCoy and Channel 4 Racing presenter Emma Spencer, who will form the key members of the Fashions in the Field judging panel.
