Statement Jewellery | Fashion

I love statement jewellery. Why buy a new outfit when you can brighten up an old one with some statement pieces that convey your personality ad style?

This season is all about oversized jewellery, so make sure you stock up on statement pieces for spring/summer.  With designers such as Chanel, Versace and Dolce & Gabbana showcasing shoulder-length earrings and embellished cuffs on the catwalk, bigger is definitely better this season.  Stay on trend with this gorgeous selection of gems, available exclusively at QVC.

I have chosen some of my favourites. Let me know what you think.

Giles Deacon Launches Libertine Jewellery With QVC

Frost headed to the Ivy for the launch of Giles Deacon’s new jewellery collection for QVC, Libertine. We had a chat with the man himself and he told us that he could not choose his favourite piece as it ‘changed everyday’ and that his favourite that day was the ‘village people’. He also said that collaborating with QVC ‘took a while’ and was quite hard as they wanted everything to be perfect.  Kimberley and Proudlock from Made in Chelsea were also there. Take a look and tell us your favourite piece.

“A Libertine is a person who has so much love, self awareness and lust for life.  A free spirited individual that ignores constraints defined by the larger society and whose thinking goes beyond mainstream idea”.

Libertine, an edgy new jewellery collection from fashion designer, Giles Deacon, represents all of these characteristics through quirky design and bold use of colour.  Gold tone; embellished with Swarovski elements, these signature pieces reflect Giles’ playful style; offering women of all ages fun, statement accessories that inspire confidence.

Libertine is perfect for the woman who likes to have fun with her wardrobe and stand out from the crowd offering a variety of wearable bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings.  Giles’ colourful enamelling and crystal embellishment will complete any daytime or evening look, with prices ranging from £14.00 to £70.00; the collection offers affordable glamour for women everywhere.

“The Giles Libertine jewellery collection is a mix of Edwardian eccentricity with punk attitude. In the “garden collection” which is beautiful golden thorns wrapping their way around enamel crystallised twisted bugs, or the “golden scorpion” collection with feather details – ‘Scorpy and the danglers’; also revisiting some of our favourite characters Eek mouse makes a return with a disco twist, as well as some figures developed from illustrations of fashion icons from the 30’s till now.

Celebrities attend the launch of Giles Deacon's jewellery collection for QVC

I am delighted to be launching the Libertine collection in collaboration with QVC, and to become part of their history of designer collaborations.  The new jewellery line has been designed with QVC’s ever growing customer base in mind”– Giles Deacon –

Prestige, pre-owned watches made affordable thanks to The Watch Expert

Watches are so huge that Vanity Fair dedicates an entire supplement to them.

A prestige watch is something many people dream of owning, but aren’t quite able to afford. Now thanks to new online retailer The Watch Expert the dream can become a reality.

TheWatchExpert.co.uk – part of jewellery chain Herbert Brown which has a 170-year High Street heritage – is dedicated to offering top quality, pre-owned Rolex, Cartier, Omega, Breitling and Tag Heuer watches at much lower prices than they were originally bought for.

For instance, an Omega Seamaster for men, manufactured in 2007, has a replacement value of £2,700, but is sold by The Watch Expert for £1,995, and a Rolex Datejust, manufactured in 1991, has a replacement value of £8,110, but is sold at more than half that price for just £3,395.

A woman’s Omega Constellation, manufactured in 2002, has a replacement value of £2,600 and is offered by The Watch Expert for £1,495, and a 2010 TAG Heuer, which has a replacement value of £1,810, is priced at just £1,350.

The Watch Expert has hundreds of stylish, pre-owned watches across a number of price brackets available at any one time, all of which come with a 12-month warranty.

What’s more, the online retailer offers the personal touch that you would enjoy in store but from the comfort and convenience of your own home. There is the opportunity to speak with watch expert David Beasley to ensure that you buy only the best watch at the best value. All interested customers need to do is send an email via TheWatchExpert.co.uk and they will receive a call back from an expert to discuss the watches of interest and answer any questions. What’s more, The Watch Expert offers a special sourcing service so if a customer already has a watch in mind, The Watch Expert will make it their business to find and refurbish it.

The Watch Expert’s David Beasley, who has 40 years’ experience of working with prestige watches, says: “In launching The Watch Expert we aim to make beautifully crafted watches more affordable. Prestige watches are generally thought of as things only the wealthy can afford, but this is no longer the case as all our pre-owned watches look, feel and work no differently to new watches, they just come at a much cheaper price.”

Sounds pretty cool to us!

Tartan Twist Jewellery | Cool Things

Nothing signifies hazy, lazy summer days more than brightly coloured flowers and dazzling
butterflies. For summer 2012 Tartan Twist, the award-winning Scottish jewellery brand, is
launching a range of vibrant dichroic glass butterfly and flower pendants on tartan ribbons. I think they make beautiful jewellery.

Jazzy, funky and lots of fun, the pendants are made by fusing gold and silver oxides within layers of
glass to give a plaid effect. With a luminous finish, the pendants have psychedelic overtones and great
depth of colour. The colours in the glass shift depending on the angle at which they are viewed. No
two pieces are exactly the same.

The Butterfly and Flower pendants come in five colours on extra-long tartan ribbons. The pendants are
also available on plain black satin ribbons. Tartan Twist jewellery is designed and made in Scotland and
each piece comes beautifully packaged in a hot pink ribbon-tied box with a card giving its provenance.

Gillian Crawford of Tartan Twist says: “Our Butterfly and Flower pendants are the perfect summer accessories. Wear them with a colour block dress or pastels jeans to give an edge to a summer outfit. They are ideal for festival goers – just add micro shorts, wellies, tee-shirt and a Stetson”

Storm Launch New Range | Preview

I love watches. It must run in the family as my dad has well over 100. The first ever watch I bought was a Storm watch, it was silver with a big purple face. So it is fair to say I am a fan of the brand. I went along to The Sanderson Hotel to check out their new range.

Storm are always have cutting edge designs. Their watches are well made and beautiful to boot. Storm is the only recognised British watch brand on the market today. Storm is still quite young, it was launched in 1989. Their range has expanded to include not only watches but also jewellery, bags, eye wear, sleepwear and fragrances. All of which is sold in 45 countries internationally. Well, it’s enough to make you feel proud.

I will be honest and say that I did not know that Storm did perfume, but they do, for him and her. The packaging is slick (like everything with Storm) and the smell of the Touch and Electric are both divine.

The Touch gift set is only £19.99 for 100ml fragrance and 150ml of shower gel. It smells the right side of tropical with lemon, green leaf and tropical fruits on the top note with a blend of white jasmine, cedar amber and brown sugar. The make version runs along the same lines but is a but different with patchouli and sandalwood, ginger and lavender. Makes me want to eat it….

Another thing I love about Storm is that I am not allergic to any of their jewellery. I really love men’s watches on women, I am partial to a chunky watch, but love a slimmer, elegant one for evenings. I have chosen some of my favourites from the range. Which was a hard thing to do, as I love them all!
