Actors, models and musicians dominate the Young Rich List of British millionaires aged 30 and under to be included in The Sunday Times Rich List 2012 published on Sunday, April 29. Sixty young millionaires will appear alongside the 1,000 richest people in Britain and the 250 wealthiest in Ireland in the definitive annual guide to wealth to be published in an extra 104-page magazine free with The Sunday Times. The richest young sportsmen will appear in The Sunday Times Sport Rich List 2012 published on May 6. Additional guides to wealth will appear at thesundaytimes.co.uk/richlist from April 29, with the Richest 2,000 people in Britain available from May 13.
Outside sport, more than half the wealthiest young people in Britain are entertainers. Actor Daniel Radcliffe, aged 22, who starred in eight Harry Potter films, heads the Young Entertainers Rich List with a £54m fortune. Radcliffe has increased his wealth by £6m in a year, helped by the success of his latest movie, the gothic thriller The Woman in Black. Twilight star Robert Pattinson has added £8m in a year to his fortune and is now worth £40m.
The young entertainer who has made the biggest gain in the last year is pop diva Adele, who has more than trebled her wealth after the phenomenal worldwide success of her second album 21. The 23-year-old songstress, from Tottenham, north London, is now worth £20m, an increase of £14m on her wealth in 2011, which puts her £8m ahead of the fortunes of Cheryl Cole, Leona Lewis and Katie Melua, who are in equal second place – each worth £12m, in the Young Music Millionaires Top 20 to be published in The Sunday Times Rich List 2012 on April 29.
The five newcomers in The Young Music Millionaires Top 20, each worth £5m, are all four members of JLS and Jessie J, 24, who has sold close to 1m copies of her album Who You Are and is a mentor on the BBC TV talent show The Voice UK. Jessie J, who has an endorsement deal with Pretty Polly tights, is one of a number of young actors and musicians who add to their wealth by modelling.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, worth £5m, is the latest model to join Britain’s Young Rich List. Now 25, Huntington-Whiteley, who grew up on a Devon farm, has been signed to the American lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret since 2006. Based in Los Angles she is branching out into films, with a part in Transformers: Dark of the Moon last year.

Pixie Lott Helps Showcase Live Celebrate

Having enjoyed the presence and support of pop princess Pixie Lott at their fifth birthday celebrations in February, Showcase Live will once again open its doors, or rather those of Stamford Bridge’s ‘Under the Bridge’ Club, in Fulham, to an eclectic bunch of musical talents on 16th April 2012.

The live music event, which has been running for five successful years, since being founded in 2007 by Director George Eason, is set to be hosted by presenter and stand up comic Lee Collins. Lee is a regular on Lisa Snowdon and Dave Berry’s breakfast show on Capital FM as well as on the comedy scene.

Showcase Live is a great platform for new and unsigned artists and has been a starting point for many UK artists including Lawson, JLS and Jessie J. Showcase Live has seen support from many industry leaders and artists, including The Wanted, Fearne Cotton, JLS, Parade, Dionne Bromfield, Twenty Twenty and Westlife.

The next big event, on 16th April, will see London based Trio, Mitsotu perform a selection of their own material including “break your heart”.

Showcase Live favourite, Alex Buchanan, is back. Alex, originally from Manchester, has seen massive success when landing the role of the lead in the West End Musical, Thriller. He has successfully choreographed two music videos and has since been working on his debut album.

Daytona lights will also be performing at the event, offering us some enjoyable upbeat pop. Daytona Lights are a male five piece from London.

Domino Go, who are based in London are currently busy writing and recording their debut album with Atlantic Records will be sure to entertain the crowd with their breathtaking vocals on the night.

Artists that have featured in Showcase Live in the past have gone on to sign with Epic, Polydor, Global Talent, Columbia, Warner Music, Atlantic and many other record companies.

Tickets can be purchased now from See Tickets.

DIVAS IN DEMAND

~ Female artists most popular live acts of 2011~

Whilst the nation is up in arms over no women being including in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, girls were certainly top of the pops. Viagogo, Europe’s largest secondary ticket marketplace, has revealed its most in demand tickets of 2011 with Rihanna, Katy Perry, Adele and Jessie J storming to the top of the chart.

Adding yet another string to her incredibly successful bow, Adele was the British female artist fans most wanted to see, despite the majority of her tour being cancelled due to illness.

Also flying the flag for Brit girls was Jessie J, who features in the top 20 most wanted tickets of the year alongside powerhouses Rihanna and Katy Perry.

Dolly Parton proved she’s still got it this year as she made it into the top 20 with huge demand to see her ‘Better Day’ tour, proving more popular than JLS and the Arctic Monkeys.

With female acts leading the voting every week in the X Factor and the first ever girl band, Little Mix, winning this year’s show plus Emile Sande winning the Brits Critics Choice Award, 2012 is set to be the year of the girls as well. Women are even spending more money than men when it comes to tickets to live shows according to recent research by NME. (1)

Ed Parkinson, director of viagogo UK said: “Our data reinforces that the live music scene was dominated by outstanding female acts this year. With Little Mix triumphing in the X Factor, Emile Sande winning the Brits Critics Choice Award, 2012 and Adele hopefully (or looking to be )on the mend, 2012 really could be the year of Girl Power.”

‘Do Good, Get Good’.

Coldplay and Noel Gallagher have already signed up to the new currency at www.bluedotworld.com, which gives fans access to live shows and exclusive material by artists, authors and movie stars in return for donations, volunteer work and media sharing.

Blue Dot is the new social currency given to people who do good things for their favourite charities by sharing on social media websites, volunteering and donating to any one of the 100k non-profit organisations globally. The idea also influences young people to get involved with charities, as a recent survey conducted by SAGA showed that people over the age of 75 are the most likely generation to give to charity… yet Blue Dot is hoping to overturn these figures by rewarding youngsters with amazing prizes for ‘doing good’.

Within moments of the site going live, Noel Gallagher offered last chance tickets to his debut UK dates exclusively to Blue Dot citizens. Within 48hrs, thousands of positive actions had been taken for causes, including cash donations to over 70 UK different charities. Coldplay also used Blue Dot in the UK and US, to offer the chance to see them live exclusively to fans of Blue Dot.

Blue Dot is rapidly claiming recognition and credibility… founder of Blue Dot, Chris Ward, filmed exclusive backstage footage for Blue Dot with artists at BBC’s Children in Need, including with Ed Sheeran, Rizzle Kicks, Coldplay, JLS, One Direction, Snow Patrol, The Saturdays, Elbow and James Morrison.

One Direction have commented: “We’re thrilled to be part of Blue Dot; It’s a brilliant concept and a great cause. We really hope that our exclusive dressing room acoustic performance of ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ encourages people to donate.”

Nichole Scherzinger, Professor Green, Katherine Jenkins, Rebecca Ferguson, Anton Du Beke and Joe McElderry are amongst others that have donated singed albums and tour tickets.

Blue Dot Founder, Chris Ward said: “I was previously Creative Director of the UK’s Comic Relief, where we work first hand with major stars and brands to create attention-grabbing moments that engage millions of people in volunteering and charitable giving.

I created Blue Dot, as a genuinely new & innovative way to enable every single Cause to create that same impact, every single day of the year.”

Under The Bridge Showcase Live Relaunch

When: 12 September 2011 | 7pm
Where: Under The Bridge
Chelsea Football Stadium, Fulham Road, SW6 1HS

On the 12th of September I went to the relaunch of Roman Abramovich’s £20 million venue in West London, at Chelsea Football stadium. Showcase live has been the starting point of some of the biggest names in popular music, including, JLS and Jessie J and their partnership with Under The Bridge is sure to bring many more household names to light in the future.

Under The Bridge is a brilliant venue, it has good ambiance, a good crowd (surprisingly, not all WAGs) and a good sound system. The music was brilliant.

We had performances from Vida, Paradise Point, Daniela Brooker, Project Alfie & Will Heard.

Vida | JLS star Oritse Williams remembered exactly where he started his career when he put Showcase Live on the top of his list of priorities for his new girl group VIDA. Oritse is working with Colin Lester / Twenty First Artists on the project.

Paradise Point | Paradise Point are energised school-leavers who are determined to return credibility to teen pop music. Bass player Roman is hoping to follow in the footsteps of his father, Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp.

Daniela Brooker |17-year old Daniela already has a very promising career ahead of her. She has been writing her album with Paul Garred (The Kooks) and Rob Harris (Jamiroquai). Her band is formed of Dizzee Rascals guitarist, Julian Perrettas drummer, Claire Maguire’s keyboardist and Go West’s bassist.

Project Alfie | Project Alfie is creating a sound which blends classic film soundtracks and soul. He shares same the stylist as Jude Law and Dave Gandy and has written with some of the biggest names in the industry such as The Invisible Men (Jessie J) and Future Cut (Lily Allen).

Will Heard | A charming story teller with an undeniably beautiful voice.  The 20-year-old singer-songwriter from SW London brings a unique blend of blues, folk, soul and funk to the table.

2010: The Year of the ‘man band’

viagogo reveals the most popular gigs of 2010

According to viagogo, Europe’s largest secondary ticket marketplace, 2010 was a year of testosterone-fuelled acts as the Kings of Leon and JLS complete the top three. There was just one woman in the top ten – Lady Gaga in fourth position.

The Libertines, in their intimate comeback gig at the HMV Kentish Town Forum, was the highest priced ticket of 2010.Tickets for Libertines reunion gig sold for well over the odds with the highest price ticket going for £223, £197 above face value.

Surprisingly, Cliff Richard’s recent 70’th anniversary gigs also pulled in the pennies with fans paying £136 – £76 over face value – to get a glimpse of the golden oldie.

The X Factor: The aftermath.

The X Factor proved as tense as ever on Sunday, The two acts who received the fewest votes and had to sing for survival were Katie Waissel and Treyc Cohen.

All ten acts opened the show with a performance of So What by Pink.

Shayne Ward (winner of The X Factor 2005) took to the stage to perform his new single, Gotta Be Somebody and Kylie Minogue performed Better Than Today.

The two acts with the lowest public vote and singing for survival this week were Treyc Cohen and Katie Waissel. When asked how she felt, Katie said: “I’m nervous and it’s Treyc…we’re all in this together I’m going to sing from my heart.” Treyc added: “I’ve been here before but I’m here to sing and I’m just going to do the best that I can.”

Katie sang Please Don’t Give Up On Me whilst Treyc sang Unbreak My Heart (Toni Braxton).

Simon: ‘Here’s the dilemma – Treyc you are the better singer, Katie you are the more interesting performer. I’m going to base this on as a viewer who I’d like to see next week. The person Im going to send home is Treyc.’

Cheryl: ‘I just want to say to both of you, you’re both very talented women. Thank you for being so gracious and strong up there. But Im refusing point blank to send anyone home.’

Dannii: ‘Firstly if I could just say these girls are brilliant singers and I know Ive given a lot of comments but I hope they’ve been constructive and there’s no cause to boo anyone on this stage. You both sing better under pressure, The person Im sending home tonight is Katie.’

Louis: ‘I’ve got to know both girls really well and I love both of them..its so, so difficult. I don’t know whether to go with my head or my heart. My head says save Treyc my heart says, save Katie. It’s really, really difficult, Simon. I’m going to go with my heart, I’m sending home Treyc.’

Treyc said: ‘I’ve had the best time I’ve met some great people. I’ve made some good lifelong friends. I’m so, so grateful. I want to thank everyone from the researchers to the people in the canteen. Thank you.’

This meant Treyc Cohen became the seventh act to leave The X Factor.

On The Xtra Factor, ITV2, Katie commented: “Treyc should be here. I just really want to be here, in this competition. I really thought I was going home. Its not my time. I want to continue I want to show everyone that I am me.”

Dannii Minogue was wearing Dolce & Gabanna dress, Cheryl Cole wore a BodyAmr.

Performing next week on The X Factor – Westlife, JLS and Take That.
