Kate Moss: I Was Forced To Pose Topless

Kate Moss has told Vanity Fair that she suffered a nervous breakdown after being pushed into posing topless. The model also said she was in tears after being forced to pose topless and that she had no one to look after her apart from when she dated Johnny Depp.

Moss told Vanity Fair magazine that she felt uncomfortable on the shoot with The Face magazine with photographer Corinne Day which made her famous.

I see a 16-year-old now, and to ask her to take her clothes off would feel really weird,’ Moss said.

‘But they were like “If you don’t do it, then we’re not going to book you again”. So I’d lock myself in the toilet and cry and then come out and do it. I never felt very comfortable about it.’

 

The supermodel said that she suffered mental health problems while working for Calvin Klein in the early 1990s.

‘I had a nervous breakdown when I was 17 or 18, when I had to go and work with Marky Mark and Herb Ritts,’

‘It didn’t feel like me at all. I felt really bad about straddling this buff guy. I didn’t like it. I couldn’t get out of bed for two weeks. I thought I was going to die.’

She went on: ‘It was just anxiety. Nobody takes care of you mentally. There’s a massive pressure to do what you have to do.’

Moss also said that after she broke up with Johnny Depp she ‘cried for years’.

Vanessa Paradis: Split Rumours 'False'.

After much speculation Vanessa Paradis has said that the rumours that she has split from Johnny Depp are “false”.

The singer and actress featured on the French TV show Le Grand Journal to promote her new film Cafe de Flore. She had previously been vague about rumours that her 14-year relationship with Depp had hit the rocks.

Presenter Marc Denisot asked Paradise to put at end to speculation if the rumours were not true and Vanessa replied: “Well, yes, it’s false! Of course it is false,”

She went on to say,

“When people say that we are buying houses in France, we break up in the winter, we get married in the summer? This is my 12th pregnancy! All of this doesn’t matter. But when it can hurt my children, especially because all this is only business,”

Paradis was also upset that the rumours could hurt her family, The couple have two children together, Lily Rose, 12, and Jack, nine.

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis are ‘all  but offically  finished’ according to People Magazine, and have not been seen together in public for a year. There has been ferocious debate about the relationship in the last few months and it has now been confirmed that they are living apart.

 

The 48-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor has been with the 39-year-old Paradis for 15 years and they have two children together.

 

“According to multiple sources…[they] are all but officially finished,” the magazine said.

 

Onlookers at the Golden Globes said Depp looked ‘subdued’.  “He didn’t smile, walked off stage and went right out the door.”

 

Angelina Jolie is reportedly three months pregnant with her and Brad Pitts 7th child. Congratulations to the happy couple!

 

The Rum Diary {Film Review}

The film has had a long developing process and delays that caused some concern whether this film will see the light of day (just like Thompson wrote the book in 1961 but never got published till 1998).

The first time Johnny Depp delved into the mind of Hunter S. Thompson was back in 1998 which he starred in a film called, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The film was directed by Terry Gilliam, known for his bizarre and surrealist work with Time Bandits, Twelve Monkeys and Brazil. It centered on two characters; Raoul Duke (Depp, impersonating the embodiment of Thompson) and his attorney, Dr. Gonzo (Benicio del Toro). They travel to Las Vegas to pursue the American dream but with some drug inducing results. It was a box-office failure, but slowly got a cult following. Thompson’s other autobiographical book, The Rum Diary, had been pursued by Hollywood since 2000. Going through different distributors, filmmakers and film stars (Thompson calling the whole long process a “waterhead fuckaround”). Eventually Thompson committed suicide in 2005 and Depp got financial backing along with Graham King (Oscar winning British producer of The Departed). Bruce Robinson joined in to adapt and direct the film. The film’s production lasted a year in Puerto Rico, Mexico and post-production took two years to complete. So the result is actually much better than one may expect but it isn’t entirely without faults.

Depp plays Paul Kemp, an American journalist who moves to Puerto Rico to work at The San Juan Star (comes in a day late for his interview). He then meets various interesting individuals; Bob Sala (Michael Rispoli), the news photographer. Moberg (Giovanni Ribisi), a political correspondent who likes to listen to Hitler’s speech and brings over 400% proof alcohol. Then there’s Sanderson (Aaron Eckhart), a shady business man and his girlfriend, Chenault (Amber Heard). Depp gets involved on being part of Sanderson’s scheme on writing about his future development in Puerto Rico but also gets entangled with Chenault and things start to get bizarre.

The screenplay by Robinson is very witty and quite funny, the actors play their parts very well. Although Depp seems a bit miscast, as the character should be played by a younger actor (Thompson was 22 during the time he worked in Puerto Rico). though the story is where it falters. It starts off really well, introducing our character straight in from waking up an event that we only see the aftermath and then seeing the political stress of 1960s Mexico. Kemp then arriving for his interview, learning afterward he was the only applicant. Then the story at the second act goes a bit inconsistent, having a sub-plot between Kemp and Sanderson and a romance sub-plot that doesn’t feel developed. It all seems tacked on and out of place, though some argue that’s probably the point and all to do with Thompson’s unstructured psyche. Especially when he hangs out mostly with Bob, getting chased by locals and Kemp using Moberg’s alcohol as a flamethrower to defend themselves.

The cinematography is very nicely shot, seeing the different scenery of the setting and using high vibrant colours. The score is quite subtle, using jazz and orchestral music with the different tones and emotions going through the story.

Overall; not a complete waste of time but was unfortunately not up the league of comedy genius compared to Withnail & I. Thompson’s memory should’ve been blazing, but sadly only with a flicker.

X Factor ChildLine Ball

The recent X Factor ChildLine Ball at the Savoy raised more than £600,000.

Presenter and writer Esther Rantzen said: “It was a fantastic evening, a really thrilling way for ChildLine to celebrate this very important year, its 25th. Marie Claire reports on a beauty pageant for men to become the cover stars of romance novels, yes, really.

Note: Magazines come out a month in advance. September’s magazines are Augusts.

The September issue of Vogue is out and the advertisers have made the issue heavy enough to use as a dumbbell. No complaints from me.

It is the International Collections special and there are lots of clothes to fawn over, Labels and trends to be urban cool, and accessories that make a difference in Vogue’s Big Fashion Issue.

There is a brilliant article on the history of Gucci, Paloma Picasso revisits Venice and talks about her journey to becoming a jewellery designer, Dries Van Noten gives a guide to his Antwerp, up-coming actress, producer and writer Brit Marling is interviewed (Frost loves her), Rifat Ozbek is doing Robin Birley’s new club, Ruperts; Good two page article.

Olivia Wilde talks Haiti and Childhood, there are a lot of autumn clothes that all look too hot, it’s 30c in London at the moment!, Miss V has her excellent social diary, there is a 9 page spread on the turbulent life of John Galliano, Tom Ford on his new cosmetic line and an article on the new David Bailey film. I noticed afterward that in the shops you get a free fashion DVD. However, I did not get this as a subscriber. Bad form.

Frost has been complain that Marie Claire has not been giving its subscribers free gifts because of ‘cost’, and this month’s issue came with a free gift. It would seem someone listened but, alas, no. In the shops you get a free nail polish and a conditioner. I just got a conditioner.

Anne Hathaway is on the cover and interviewed inside. There is a good article on what to wear to fashion week (which I will be listening to!), an interview with Mulberry bag designer Emma Hill, an interview with Katie Holmes, how to get French style, what the New York fashion pack wear, China’s fashion, what men won’t tell you until the third date, Should you move abroad?, 9/11 Anniversary, A good three page article on Stella McCartney, The X Factor, Beyonce, Oh Land, a One Day Special; article on the book and interviews with cast and lots & lots of fashion and beauty.

L’Wren Scott gives us the low-down on her stuff, in Fairground there is a lot of lovely picture of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in Hollywood attending the BAFTA party.
