Celebrities Take It All Off For BBC Children In Need

Along with a host of internationally renowned celebrities, BBC Children in Need has launched this year’s BearFaced Day. Together, they are asking women across the UK to join them in going BearFaced for BBC Children in Need on Friday 8th November, the campaign simply asks for women to spend a day without makeup and pop on a Post Office Pawprint instead.
The stellar line-up includes TV favourites Laura Whitmore, Arlene Philips and Alex Jones, outstanding actress Sheridan Smith, sensational singer Kimberley Walsh, model and actress Suki Waterhouse and talented artist Jo Wood. All have gone BearFaced in a make-up free photo-shoot by world renowned photographer, Rankin, to encourage women across the UK to unite to do the same.

Laura Whitmore said: “Join me and hundreds of other women, who are going BearFaced, let’s raise lots of money for children all over the UK, who need your help.”

Kimberley Walsh said: “BBC Children in Need’s BearFaced Day campaign is such a brilliant way to raise money; will you be joining me this Friday 8th November?”

Sheridan Smith said: “Pop a Pudsey Pawprint on instead of your makeup this Friday 8^th November to help make a difference to young lives across the UK; every penny raised really will help!”

Alex Jones said: “There are so many children and young people across the UK who need our help, so how could I say no to the BBC Children in Need BearFaced campaign? Join me and hundreds of other women going Bearfaced November 8th.”

Arlene Philips said: “Come on ladies, join me in going BearFaced on Friday 8^th November to help raise lots of money for BBC Children in Need.”

Jo Wood said: “I’m so excited to be taking part in BBC Children in Need’s BearFaced campaign this year! I hope that women across the UK will leave the make up at home for the day to help change the lives of children who really do need our help!”

Going BearFaced is a simple way to raise money for BBC Children in Need. Women can either participate alone or set up a Bearfaced team with friends, family and colleagues to make the day more fun.

The Pawprints as seen on the BearFaced lineup are available now at Post Offices across the UK. Women are encouraged to swap their makeup for a Post Office Pawprint to help make a difference to young lives.

WRAP UP AGAINST POVERTY 2012

EXCLUSIVE CELEBRITY AND DESIGNER CLOTHING AUCTIONED TO RAISE VITAL FUNDS

JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2012

With London Fashion Week falling at the end of February, showcasing trends for autumn and winter 2012, charity Elizabeth Finn Care is celebrating all things fashion by auctioning a selection of unique items, donated by top celebrities and designers.

At Elizabeth Finn Care, a national charity whose grants team offers financial support to those in need, we know people can struggle to afford the items of winter clothing they need to stay warm and healthy during the colder months. There are 13.5 million people living below the poverty line in the UK, among them 3.8 million children[i]. Through Wrap Up Against Poverty, money to help buy more people in financial need buy essential clothes.

The inaugural Wrap Up Against Poverty campaign was launched in 2011. Over half the people the charity helps had to go without new clothes before they made the approach. By bidding for the fabulous pieces available, the public can not only boost their style credentials but also enable people in financial need survive the winter months.

Each item available reflects both the style and personality of the individual or designer who has donated it. Bidders can go for the classic look of Sienna Miller’s Doma fleece coat, or follow in Dame Helen Mirren’s footsteps by opting for her beautiful Alberta Ferretti coat. Glamour puss Kimberley Walsh’s plush Louis Vuitton scarf will be up for grabs too, as will a beautiful Alexander McQueen suit from Fern Britton, and stylish winter coats from comedy heroes Mathew Horne and Ruth Jones. To add to a spectacular celebrity list, exclusive designer items including a golden Martina Spetlova shift dress have been donated alongside beautiful items from high street stores such as Ted Baker and Topshop.

Wrap Up Against Poverty was a huge hit in 2011, raising both funds and awareness of the fact that millions of people in the UK are living in financial need and many can’t afford to clothe themselves through winter. Wrap Up Against Poverty 2012 will be even greater and grander.

X-Factor judge Simon Cowell has amassed a personal fortune of £200m to place him at number six in the annual Music Millionaires Top 50, published in The Sunday Times Rich List 2011 this weekend.

The 23rdannual Sunday Times Rich List – the definitive guide to wealth in Britain and Ireland – is published as an extra 104-page magazine, free with the paper on Sunday.

The Music Millionaires Top 50 is headed by Clive Calder, with a £1,300m fortune made from the sale of Zomba Records in 2002. New entries include AC/DC’s lead singer Brian Johnson, born in Gateshead, who is worth £50m, and Moya Doherty and John McColgan, worth £70m, who own the Irish dance show Riverdance.

Katherine Jenkins, worth £13m – up £2m on 2010, tops the young music millionaires chart of people aged 30 and under ahead of Cheryl Cole, Leona Lewis and Katie Melua, who all have £12m fortunes. The top new entry in the young music millionaires chart is Adele at ninth equal with a £6m fortune. Two more new entries are Taio Cruz and Florence Welch, each worth £5m.

U2 with a combined fortune of £455m, up by £26m from last year – see table below, head the list of Irish music millionaires who appear among Ireland’s Richest 250 in The Sunday Times Rich List 2011.
