Cake Lingerie Collections Review | World Breastfeeding Week

1st August 2017 –  7th August 2017 is World Breastfeeding Week. Cake Maternity are giving their full support and so is Frost Magazine. Cake Maternity’s ranges include maternity and nursing day bras, sleep bras, sports bras, yoga bras, plus size bras, wire free bras and an array of breast feeding accessories including organic breast feeding pads. With 35 styles, 30-42 bands, S-XL, A-M Cups, they have got you covered.

We reviewed two of their maternity bras.

First up was the Maple Mousse Bra. A lot of maternity bras are not sexy or beautiful. But every now and then a woman wants to feel sexy and beautiful. The Maple Mousse Bra is just that. It looks beautiful but the fabric also feels luxurious. You can tell it is good quality. It has great detail- the pom poms and the polka dots- and the back has three clasps which makes it more supportive and secure. The clips to give access to the breast are secure and you don’t feel they will accidentally pop open. Something that has happened to me with other maternity bras. I was hugely impressed with this bra. It ticks all of the right boxes for comfort, functionality and beauty. I am very impressed indeed.
Next up was the Blue Lotus Bra. Sports bras are generally not recommended when breastfeeding, but this is a maternity sports bra. It is for low impact exercise and does not compress the breast tissue. It looks great and I love the style. I worried initially that it would be complicated getting it on as it has double the straps, but it was easy. Phew! The bra looks great on and is very comfy. It has two, very discreet, holes to either breastfeed or pump milk. It has good support and is high quality. I am definitely a Cake Maternity fan now. Their products are well made and beautiful.

Freya Lingerie SS13 | Fashion

I came across Freya Lingerie in the Handpicked Media suite at the Aldwych Hotel for London Fashion Week. I loved their SS13 range. They are innovative in many ways, they do the Deco 365 bra. It is a bra which you can wear under any clothes. It was launched in 2009 and they have sold over 300,000 of them.

If you are a larger cup size then it can be hard to find a bra to wear under most things. That is what makes the Deco great. It can be worn any day under any outfit, and day.

Freya also have a sports bra that not only supports you, but also has coolmax material to wick moisture away from the body and a Polygiene fabric, a silver ion based technology that inhibits the growth of bacteria, which gives an odour free, antibacterial finish. It keeps you fresh no matter how hard you work out.

I have chosen some of my personal favourites from the new season. Glamour also love the purple set. Let me know what you think.

January's Magazines: Lady Gaga and Gwen Stefani Cover Stars.

Lady Gaga takes the cover of Vanity Fair. She tells Vanity Fair: ‘I can’t commit to being an adult- I’m not ready.’

One of the main reasons I subscribe to Vanity Fair is the intelligent articles. I get my monthly dose of politics and economics. This month is no exception, there are brilliant articles to help you understand the economical crisis and a brilliant article on George F. Kennedy.

I really enjoyed Henry Aldord’s article on manners. It’s a sample from his book, Would it kill you to stop doing that?

  • Vanity Fair take Celine Dion out to lunch and she tells them she has over 3000 pair of shoes.
  • There is a brilliant article on Rick Perry, can he comeback?
  • Salman Rushdie on Lewis Carroll’s struggle to write his second book. ‘Follow that syndrome’ and how it helped him. Great piece.
  • The Japanese workers cleaning up Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
  • Rebecca Eaton, who has put her stamp on Downton Abbey and Upstairs Downstairs amongst others.
  • Michael Ovitz and his (alleged) failed takeover of IMG from the late Teddy Forstmann.
  • The wonderful Christopher Hitchens debates whether the phrase ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ has merit.
  • The Queen and Prince Phillip in love. 16 pages on the blossoming of their love.
  • And P.D. James answers the Proust Questionnaire.

Marie Claire has Kelly Rowland on the cover. She talks Beyonce, men, music and admits she has cellulite.

There is a lot of clothes and shoes that will help you plan your wardrobe for next year, and lots of sparkly stuff for Christmas.

There is also a 2011 in review. Most magazines do this in December, watch out for Frosts.

  • Why famous men cheat, and does it sound like your man? Good article, and Lizzie Cundy tells Marie Claire how it felt when her husband cheated on her. Forgive and forget?
  • Four style savvy women share the party prepping secrets.

Glamour has X Factor’s Tulisa on the cover. She says ‘I don’t think I am anything like Cheryl, except we can both put a bit of volume in our hair’. She also says that she likes to ‘stick up for other women’. Which makes Frost like her. A lot.

Get Marilyn Monroe Sexy.

When people think of what makes a women sexy they often think of a fragile young actress who died in 1962. Marilyn Monroe is often though of as curvy due to her hour glass figure, but her measurements, according to her dressmaker, were:

Height: 5 feet, 5½ inches
Weight: 118-140 pounds
Bust: 35-37 inches
Waist: 22-23 inches
Hips: 35-36 inches
Bra size: 36D

This article also puts her at a size 8/10, slim, but with ample breasts and hips. If you are lacking in the curves department, or just want to enhance what you have got, Frost has located the underwear that Michelle Williams wore in her star turn as Marilyn in My Week With Marilyn.

Time to drop some hints to your boyfriend….
