Australian Fitness Expert Shares Top 10 Takeaways From Over 100 Celebrity and Model Diets and Workouts

fitness expert, fitness and diet tips, lose weight, Australian personal trainer and nutritionist Rachael Attard is sharing the most coveted secrets from celebrities and models – the exercise and diet plans that are responsible for their amazing figures. The influential fitness expert has gathered and studied the workout and diet regimens of more than 100 celebrities and models, and is now sharing her top 10 takeaways to inspire and educate others.

“Celebrities are in the spotlight and constantly demonstrating the highest standards of health and fitness,” said Attard. “Their exercise and diet routines are among the top questions I get from clients, so I’ve taken a close look at their strategies to share with others who might want to try them for the same amazing results.”

TOP WORKOUTS:

Cardio is top-of-mind for everyone when it comes to weight loss, maintenance and getting toned, and celebrities are no exception. Boxing is the go-to cardio workout for many, including leading ladies Jennifer Aniston, Salma Hayek, Kate Beckinsale and Sophie Turner; singer Dua Lipa and models Hailey Bieber and Lais Ribeiro.

Low impact exercise options such as Pilates or yoga are popular among singer Dua Lipa; actresses Margot Robbie and Emma Stone; and iconic model Naomi Campbell, who enjoy this mindful option following days of intense cardio or strength training sessions.

Among the more alternative fitness options, superstar singers Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift are able to burn calories while rehearsing for tours with dance-based cardio, giving them the toned legs and defined abs on stage that are the envy of everyone.

Celebrities who call Los Angeles home, including model Kaia Gerber, are likely to go hiking – taking advantage of the many trails with close views of the infamous Hollywood sign.

Resistance training, also known as strength training, is the exercise of choice for model Sofia Richie; actresses Penelope Cruz, Emma Stone, Kate Beckinsale and Sophie Turner; and singer Adele who revealed a major weight loss earlier this year. This method utilizes resistance to muscular contraction to build muscle and improve anaerobic endurance.

TOP DIETS:

Among the most consistent diet tips from celebrities and models is to drink plenty of water. Countless celebrities attribute hydration to not only getting them through workouts, but making them feel full while also ensuring healthy skin.

Smoothies are among the most popular breakfast and lunch choices for celebrities, including singer Ariana Grande, Australian model Belle Lucia, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and actresses Emma Stone, Kate Beckinsale and Sophie Turner.

A dose of healthy fat in the form of avocado on toast is the go-to lunch for Pussy Cat Doll and Masked Singer host Nicole Scherzinger, while a commitment to regular juice cleanses has proven successful for actresses including Salma Hayek.

An eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting an eating is a current trend called intermittent fasting, which is popular among actresses Vanessa Hudgens and Scarlett Johansson. Regardless of the fasting cycle chosen, each option reduces caloric intake for weight loss or maintenance.

“When it comes to clean eating and counting calories, celebrities are committed to a consistent lifestyle of healthy choices, but fall victim to cheat meals just like the rest of us,” said Attard. “Celebrities almost unanimously agree that pizza is their downfall, including actress Vanessa Hudgens.”

These are the top 30 signs you are trustworthy

The signs you are trustworthy have been revealed – and include never being late, not cancelling plans at the last minute and being able to keep secrets.

Researchers who polled 2,000 adults identified the indicators someone can be relied upon – with being a good listener and a tendency to help others featuring on the list.

Someone who is self-aware, calm-headed, not judgemental, and always there when you need them is also likely to be worthy of trust.

Being respectful of boundaries is important too, as is adhering to the rules rather than breaking them.

Commissioned by technical outdoor brand Helly Hansen, as part of its ‘trust is earned’ campaign, the study found the typical adult trusts seven people.

But four in 10 think recent events have shown who is truly trustworthy.

A spokeswoman for Helly Hansen said: “Trustworthiness has always been an important trait – it’s arguably the foundation of all relationships, personal or professional.

“But it must be earned, whether that’s confiding in a colleague, trusting in yourself to take on a new challenge or hiking in the mountains with friends.

“The purpose of our research was to show what it takes to earn trust – whether it’s within yourself, another person, a team or your kit – and findings suggest trust is hard to achieve.”

The study found 85 per cent of adults consider themselves to be trustworthy people.

But those polled claimed to have had their trust broken on an average of 14 occasions since they became an adult.

This might explain why more than half find it difficult to trust other people and also why seven in 10 think once their trust has been broken it can never be restored.

However, a quarter said recent events have made them more willing to let bygones be bygones and forgive, while one in 10 believe they’ve become more trusting this year.

But, the Helly Hansen study carried out through OnePoll found a whopping 90 per cent agree trust is earned.

It also identified the most trustworthy people in society – with health professionals, namely doctors and nurses, coming out on top.

Those who work in fire and rescue came second, while dentists were third.

A spokeswoman for Helly Hansen added: “For professionals working in harsh environments where the stakes are high, success cannot be achieved without trust.

“Trust enables you to do your job and follow your passions with complete focus and determination.

“Trust in your gear, your partners and your knowledge of terrain and weather conditions make the difference between an epic or bad experience in the outdoors.”

Sailor Hannah Stodel, three times World Champion, four times Paralympian, and Helly Hansen ambassador, said about trust: “It’s ultimately everything in sailing; the team that you surround yourself with are what keep you alive.

“You trust that they have done their jobs right, you trust that the kit you’re using is the best for the job, you trust that it will keep you warm, safe and dry.

“You trust your boat will keep on pushing through, you trust that you will get to the finish line, and you trust in your own ability to get there.”

UK Women Confess Their Beauty Secrets

I have never been high maintenance. No fake tan, no false eyelashes. In fact, in the past my husband was lucky if I brushed my hair on the weekends. Truth is, men prefer women when they are not wearing makeup but that does not stop us being insecure. While there are certain things I will keep a secret from my husband when it comes to grooming, and from Frost readers, I was quite surprised at the lengths that some women take to keep looking gorgeous. I think we should all just relax and if your partner does not love your natural beauty, then they were obviously not worth investing time in. I doubt it will come to this though. Men are not as shallow as the stereotype suggests. In my experience, they love natural beauty.

Even in the most open and honest relationships some things are best kept a secret. So when it comes to maintaining their beauty women of the UK withhold more than a pair of spanx and a bottle of fake tan from their partners.Nearly three quarters of men have no idea the lengths their wife or girlfriend goes to look her best, a study found yesterday. Research revealed most men are completely oblivious to the extensive beauty routine their other half goes through on a daily basis.

Among the pampering habits which escape men is the waxing or bleaching of moustaches and the extensive plucking of eyebrows, nose hair and chin whiskers. Wearing push-up bras, false eyelashes and control pants were also tricks ladies confessed to resorting to. As was covertly applying fake tan and wearing hair extensions for extra volume the poll by QVS Beauty Tools Experts found. Four in ten women said they purposely hide the gory details of their beauty regime from their man, with a third of women claiming they want to keep-up the pretence that they always look great.

beauty, beauty secrets, secrets, hair removal, hair,

The poll of 1000 women and 1000 men revealed incredibly one in twenty women have never let their husband or boyfriend see them without a full face of make-up on.

The study revealed more than a quarter of the 1000 men polled said they have no idea what elements make up their wife or girlfriends beauty routine. With seven in ten saying they would rather be kept in the dark about what she gets up to behind the bathroom door. But one in ten said they would be shocked to learn that the love of their life wore cleavage enhancing bras or pants that sucked her in.And a quarter said they would also be surprised to find out she wore false nails, coloured contacts or had veneers on her teeth. And more than one in ten blokes couldn’t believe their other half would resort to wearing false tan.

But the research showed a quarter of women said they would be left embarrassed if their partner caught them carrying out certain preening tasks, with shaving their bikini line, waxing or bleaching their facial hair and plucking nasal hairs being named as the most mortifying. Fortunately three quarters of women said the longer they remain in a relationship the less they are concerned with keeping up a less than perfect image. With women claiming after being with a man for an average of one year and seven months, she begins to relax about her appearance. Having said that, a devious 61 per cent of females polled said if they receive a compliment from their partner they never confess to any ‘cheats’ they have undertaken, preferring to remain tight lipped.

What efforts do you take when it comes to beauty? Would you let your other half see you without makeup?

My Skincare Secrets By Nakita Grewal

I’m going to share a skincare secret of mine, well of my mums. As the teenage years approached me I battled with the dark side of teenage acne, I tried skincare product after skin care product, spending from a few pounds into hundreds but I never found a product I was satisfied with. Not only was my skin breaking out but I also have the great honour of having dry sensitive skin so I have to be very careful with what I put on my face. After another failed battle in my war to control my breakouts, my mum made me a home remedy, a lemon and honey facemask. She never shared this with me before due to the sensitivity of my skin and how the lemon may react but since I tried anything and everything that I could find, there was no harm in trying this.

Get great skin like Kate’s.

It is a very quick and simple mask squeeze the juice of a lemon and mix it with honey in a bowl and apply to your face for about 10 – 15 minutes. After trying this the first time I’ll be honest I wasn’t that impressed but after doing this 1 -2 times a week for 3 weeks I noticed a difference I wasn’t having extreme breakouts and my complexion was starting to glow.

The lemon is the important ingredient in this. Firstly it dries up spots, and helps prevent breakouts as it is a natural cleanser. But it doesn’t stop there it helps in aiding an even skin tone and gives you a beautiful glow. But remember if you are using lemon on your face it is very very important to wear sun block as it does make your skin sensitive to the sun.

The honey works as moisturizer and a healer, as the lemon dries up and cleanses the skin, the honey works it magic to prevent over drying of the skin as well as healing the breakouts. These two natural products work hand in hand and leave you with gorgeous looking skin.

Also you can use the same ingredients to make a super face exfoliator by adding sugar. Use the scrub on your face for about 5 minutes going in circular motions to really scrub away at the dead skin cells and revive a new glow.

These techniques have helped me with my battle to control my skin and have worked wonders even with my sensitive skin.

Victoria Secrets’ Tanning Secrets Uncovered

Victoria Secrets, pictures, tanningAlways wanted luscious legs worthy of the Victoria Secrets catwalk? Well now you can, with the simple and inexpensive solution of self-tanning. But how does one apply such stuff without running the risk of resembling streaky bacon? Beauty & tanning expert, media personality and Cocoa Brown founder Marissa Carter solves your self-tanning dilemmas.

Q: When should I wax or shave the hairs on my body if I am planning on self-tanning?

A: Wax your hairs two days before tanning. If you wax the day before tanning, there may still be remnants of wax on your skin that the tan will cling to. You can shave your hairs the day before you apply tan. I don’t recommend shaving on the same day that you’re going to apply tan because tan tends to get into the pores after shaving which can end up looking like blackheads in your skin.

Q: How often do I need to exfoliate and moisturise my skin before I apply a self-tanning product?

A: I recommend lightly exfoliating in the shower with scrub gloves and shower gel every day or at least every day for the three days leading up to your tan application. Moisturise your body twice a day if you can. I recommend using a body oil at night when skin is most absorbent and an oil free moisturiser during the day.

Q: What should I do to prepare my skin on the day I am going to self-tan?

A: Shower using shower gel (not an exfoliator) about half an hour before applying tan. This ensures skin is clean and free from any oils, lotions, potions or perfumes that have the potential to act as a barrier between your skin and the active ingredients in the tan that need to get into your skin for your tan to develop. They can also cause the tan to go streaky or patchy so it’s very important that is clean before you apply tan.

Apply an oil-free moisturiser to dry areas such as hands, feet, knees and ankles so that the tan doesn’t go too dark. The moisturiser must be oil free because if it contains oil, the oil will prevent the tan from developing and you could end up with pale patches!
A small amount of petroleum jelly through your eyebrows will stop the tan from clinging to your hairs, ensuring you don’t end up with tell-tale stained brows.
If you have dark circles around your eyes and you apply tan over the circles, they will appear darker and more obvious so avoid this by applying petroleum jelly to the area which will act as a barrier.
Nail varnish on your finger and toe nails before you get sprayed is a good idea because it prevents the tan from staining your nails.
If you have light coloured hair, I recommend wearing a mop cap or wrapping a towel around your head so the spray tan doesn’t get onto your hair and become temporarily discoloured.

Q: What should I do after tanning?

A: Your beauty therapist will tell you how long you need to wait for your tan to develop before rinsing it off but in the meantime, wear loose dark clothes so the tan doesn’t rub off too much on your clothes and your clothes don’t rub too much of the tan off your skin too!

Don’t wash your hair in the shower when you are showering for the first time after tanning. You could end up over-exfoliating the tan off as shampoos can be quite strong and might strip your tan.

Q: How do I maintain a beautiful tan all week long?

A: Gradually exfoliate your skin daily so that the tan wears off evenly. Use an oil-free moisturiser twice daily. I recommend using coconut oil at night on your skin if you want to start removing your tan. It generally takes three nights of using coconut oil and three days of exfoliating to remove all remnants of tan.

The 5 Secrets To Avoiding Acne

amandaeliasFrom Facial Therapist, Skincare Expert & Bravura London founder, Amanda Elias

With hormones going haywire, teenagers can really suffer from a multitude of problems, one of which is dreaded acne. From mild to severe, acne can be extremely traumatic at such a sensitive age but it really is best to address the problem as early as possible and to get your teenager in to a good skincare regime as soon as possible; prevention is much better than cure.

Cleansing

Cleansing is extremely important but choosing the right product is essential.

Avoid cleansing wipes which don’t cleanse the skin thoroughly enough. Older teenagers tend to prefer a cleansing wash that’s applied and rinsed but younger teens don’t always rinse properly, in which case a light cream cleanser removed with a clean face flannel works best.

Application is important, when teaching a younger teen ensure they massage all over the face and neck, close to the hairline and behind the ears and neck. Cleanse twice in the evening and once in the morning.

Use a gentle treatment daily for acne prone skin; if dryness occurs use the product every other day. If your skin burns or feels itchy, gets very red or you break out in a rash, discontinue use.

Hair

A thick fringe (bangs) may be fashionable but it can cause outbreaks in young, oily skin.

Wash the fringe every morning and clip it off the face in the evening and to sleep; trapped dirt and oil will introduce bacteria in to the skin which is why it’s essential to keep any hair that touches the face as clean as possible.

Spot-Control

When spots have a head it is so tempting to squeeze but squeezing will not only introduce bacteria in to the open wound but popping the skin could leave a scar, think of what happens when you pop bubble wrap, imagine your skin with that tear in the surface! Neat tea tree oil applied directly on to the spot can help reduce bacteria and dissolve the blockage on the surface. Perform a patch test on the jaw line before applying tea tree all over as it can cause irritation in sensitive skin.

Avoid strong acne products which can irritate sensitive, young skin. A product such as the Dermaflannel (£11.99, www.bravuralondon.com) is perfect because it gently exfoliates and helps to remove excess oil and dirt from the pores without the need for any harsh chemicals.

Lifestyle

Although skincare can help control and heal breakouts, a healthy and active lifestyle can play a big part.

Vitamins and herbal supplements can also play an important role when combating any skincare complaint; a visit to an herbalist or a specialist in vitamins and supplements could be beneficial in balancing the hormones which in turn will control acne.

Make sure anything that comes in to contact with the face is clean; face flannels, towels, hands! And remember to change your pillow regularly.

Medication

In teenage skin where acne is very severe, the best option is a visit to the Doctor who will usually recommend a course of antibiotics.

Super Secrets of the Successful Jobseeker by Simon Gray

Keeping ahead of the competition in 2013 From ‘Super Secrets of the Successful Jobseeker’  Author

Getting yourself to market

“Knowledge is power” might be a cliché these days, but the stark fact of the matter is that it’s never been more of a truism. When you know more about the environment you’re about to enter, then the better you can market yourself, and adapt.

I have interviewed a number of people recently who have been in secure jobs but have been thrown into the hustle and bustle of the jobs market because of redundancy. To be frank, some of their expectations have been unrealistic. They often think that the jobs market is exactly the same as when they last looked for a position –  but times have changed.

I often equate this to a prisoner who has been newly released from prison after serving a 10-stretch. Their surroundings are unfamiliar, and time, people and technology has moved on. It’s no wonder they’re confused.

In my experience, jobseekers react to this in two different ways: they bury their head in the sand and try and pretend nothing has changed; or they take a more enlightened approach and try to gain more understanding of the modern job market and how best to place themselves within in it.

It’s no secret that there are now more people applying for the same job than ever before. With this comes a downward pressure on salaries, and, as far as employers are concerned, it’s most definitely a “buyer’s market”.

Employers are under the impression that they don’t have to try too hard to find great candidates with the skills they need because there appears to be so many out there looking for jobs. They’re also in no rush to make snap decisions when it comes to appointments – nor will they hire unless completely necessary because of the cost risk that taking someone on incurs. In short: employers believe they sit in the seat of power.

Jobseekers, meanwhile, are going into the jobs market believing it’s going to be tough to land a role. They’re thinking to themselves: “I’m going to have to work really hard to find a job and I’m not guaranteed to find one – is there any point?” They also believe they should be grateful for any job that’s offered to them at whatever salary. But the main thing they believe is that they have absolutely no power in the jobs market at all.

I think this is misguided. Why? Because you simply can’t control what is out of your reach. The mindset of employers is beyond a jobseekers capability to alter, and so trying to do so will only waste time and lead to a dead end. The jobseeker would be better spending their time and effort trying to understand what their future potential employer is thinking, and how you can tailor your skills and experience to meet their requirements. In doing this, you’ll be instantly rebalancing the relationship.

The first thing any jobseeker should do is remember who their competition is. Make sure you differentiate yourself from other jobseekers; instantly falling in-line with what the competition is doing will put you at a distinct advantage. Arm yourself with the weapons you need to make you stand out from the crowd.

This can seem like a daunting task, but it needn’t be. Research is vital, and this can be done at a local level rather than trying to ascertain what’s happening nationally.

The local press is a good place to start. Find out what’s happening in the regional economy, and basic steps such as measuring the thickness of the local jobs paper is a good place to start if you want to take stock of hiring activity in the market.

Recent figures show that as many as 20 per cent of people online at any time are looking for a job. Use this time to take a look at jobs boards and search for skills that employers are looking for.

Talk to the professionals – set up meetings with local recruitment businesses. Ask their advice on what’s happening, skills sought after and salary levels.

Do your homework on your local business scene; who are the larger businesses and who are the up and coming SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises)?

By undertaking these simple steps, you the jobseeker, will have a more realistic handle on the jobs market and a better of the times on the times your are living in.

With a clear picture of how things are, you are far better informed and more empowered to plan your attack and find your next position.
